Finals Week As Told By The Hunger Games

It’s that time of year when college students everywhere are asking themselves, how is it May already? The parallels between The Hunger Games and our very own personal hell, A.K.A. finals week, are unmatched. While there may not be real fights to the death during finals, there are certainly fights to the near death between students and the endless exams that they face, which everyone hopes to conquer, but as we've all learned the hard way at one point or another, there are clear winners and losers of both finals week and the Hunger Games. Without further adieu, here is a GIF depiction of finals week at college, as told by The Hunger Games movies.

The time is upon us. Finals week is back with a vengeance.

The first morning of reading period, you find the motivation to get out of bed, start your day and head to the library, ready to kick some finals ass:

After an hour of unsuccessful searching, you realize that you probably should have woken up earlier to secure one of the better study spots in the library. Finals week has become a war, and you are losing miserably.

While in the library, you see those kids in your class who you know are going to score the highest on the final and throw off the curve for everyone else, and they absolutely terrify you.

*Insert brief moment of panic*

After evaluating your situation, you get the feeling that a semesters' worth of lectures has really started to add up over the past few weeks. And they're coming back for you.

But this is finals week, and you plan to come out the other side victorious, so you grab your study materials and valiantly set out to do so.

Things are going well, but then you hit a wall.

You may realize that your major classes, i.e. the majority of the classes you will take in college, are going to have the most difficult final exams.

You probably also have that one professor who you truly believe has set you up to fail his final, and you resign yourself to #YOLO on the final exam because you really just want to get through the class alive.

Although it seems like the exams and the material are relentless…

…you have to face that sh*t head on because you no choice but to finish what you started this semester.

Even though at times it may feel like there is no escape from the library…

…the end of the school year is in clear sight.

Best of luck to everyone on final exams. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
