Finals week has officially arrived for the spring semester. Students are scattered around the library trying to cram 300 index cards work of notes in their brain with tears falling down their face. My stress acne has already made an appearance upon my face and I am currently three cups of coffee down, but here are some tips to survive the hell that is finals week.
1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE.
I cannot say this enough. I love watching Netflix when I know I should be writing a paper, but this is the worse time to do so. Your GPA depends on these exams!
2. Use different study methods.
Try using flashcards, websites, group studying, and more to study. It mixes things up and makes studying a little more fun and enjoyable. Ask some friends to join you as well, but try not to get off topic the whole time.
3. Make sure you get enough sleep.
Staying up until 3 A.M. cramming terms and concepts into your head the night before an exam is normal, but make sure you get to sleep. If not, you won't be as focused as you want to be.
4. Make sure you eat and drink a lot of water (and coffee).
Seriously? Yes. Skipping meals happens often when finals week rolls around. Some students stress eat. The point is, take care of yourself. Also, caffeine is a necessity especially during finals week.
5. Take study breaks.
Go to the gym, grab a bite to eat with friends, take a walk, whatever you enjoy doing. You don't want to cram everything in at once because it will stress you out to the max.
6. Treat yourself when you finish your last final.
Aka, have fun packing up your dorm room or apartment to move back home for three and a half months.
Sure, finals are the absolute worst and no one enjoys taking them, but every college student is in the same position you are. Soon you'll be headed home for the summer with your dog waiting for your arrival. Good luck!
