6 Study Essentials For Finals Week, As Told By A Stressed College Student

As finals week is approaching, the stress is starting to take over for college students. The end of the semester is within our reach, we just need to study and pass our exams. Here are the basic essentials in order to have a successful finals week!

1. All study materials.

Make sure before you begin studying, you have all the necessary studying materials you could need. Especially if you are studying at the library, the worst feeling in the world is leaving something you need to study at home. Also, ensure you have any extra supplies like pencils, pens, and paper. You would rather be over-prepared than under-prepared.

2. Chargers.

Most college students use their technology to work on their assignments. Additionally, most colleges use online platforms for their assignments like Canvas. Be sure you bring all chargers for your laptop, phone, or even some calculators that require a charger. You wouldn't want to be in a good grove and working hard, just to lose your stamina because your laptop died.

3. Music.

Music tends to relax people and get them into their own world in their work. It separates you from any possible noise from the people around you. I personally love listening to music while I study because I hate hearing the surrounding noise of other people whispering or typing loudly on their laptops. It allows me to feel like I am in my own setting, studying in my own personal bubble.

4. Snacks.

Since most students have more than one final exam, we find ourselves studying for hours on end. Most of us don't have time to get a full meal. So, we need to make sure we have the proper amount of snacks to ensure we don't get too hungry while studying.

5. Coffee.

This is the drink that will get you through the long studying hours you have ahead of you! A lot of universities have a Starbucks or Dunkin near campus, some even have them on their campuses! Take advantage of that and use coffee as a resource for energy to keep studying. Sometimes when you start getting a headache from staring at your computer screen, coffee is just the thing to wake us up!

6. A study partner.

Having a good study buddy is essential to a successful study session. A good study partner could be someone from one of your classes who can help you understand the material. Or, a good study partner could be someone who has studying that they need do, won't distract you, but merely their presence is comforting for times when you need a study break (which is also very important). It is nice to have someone to communicate with to take your mind off all the work you need to get done.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
