Finals Week as told by "Gilmore Girls"

Finals week is upon us and like many college students around the country, I have been procrastinating in the best way I know how: binge watching Netflix. This semester I began watching "Gilmore Girls" and the number of times that Lorelei and Rory Gilmore simply understood me was incredible. Below are 13 times that the "Gilmore Girls" understood the finals struggle a little too well.

1. You wake up and suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, it is finals week. All of a sudden your outlook on life changes and the world ceases to exist beyond the next five days.

2. Self care is no longer a priority. Whether you have been going to the gym all semester or not, finals week is not the time to begin (unless you are desperately looking for a way to procrastinate).

3. Coffee slowly replaces every meal and you will find yourself saying things like, "I haven't eaten at all today but I've had like six cups of coffee so I'm probably fine." (You're not fine, eat a granola bar or something.)

4. When your final essay has a minimum page count and you are only half way there. This is the time to start rephrasing sentences in the wordiest way possible.

5. The librarians will do there best to provide some comfort during this time of high stress. Many universities will bring in therapy animals to the library because nothing is more comforting than petting a calm animal.

6. You may study with a group of fellow classmates but this time is really just used to complain about how hard your life currently is before you go back to your room and cram everything on your own.

7. When you try to explain that you haven't slept in three days to your mom when she is trying to console you.

8. When your professor offers extra credit on the final if you "dress for success."

9. You get to your final exam after pulling an all-nighter and try to deny that you are physically shaking from the amount of caffeine coursing through your veins.

10. You take any means necessary to convince your professor that the final should be curved.

11. Regardless of how you did, you feel significantly lighter after finishing your last exam.

12. When you realize that you passed all of your classes this semester.

13. But before you can go crazy with summer fun you need to take one day to recover in bed eating copious amounts of pizza and ice cream or whatever else brings you happiness.

Here's me and the Gilmore Girls wishing you all the best this finals week and remember: no matter what, you still get summer break regardless of how you do on your exams.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
