Finals Week: As Told by Gilmore Girls
Bottled Creativity Blog

It's that time of the year: Finals week. The most dreaded week leading up to the best month and a half break from school. Procrastinating writing 13 page papers due to binge watching every season of Gilmore Girls has actually lead me to believe that the show was made as a stress reliever for this exact week. As well as a reminder that I need to get my butt in gear...

1. When you're studying all of your notes and powerpoint slides throughout the semester and realize you don't remember learning half of it:

Seriously.. teachers who make you take cumulative finals should just disappear! No one in their right mind needs to remember tedious details from Week 1 to Week 15. (unless you're trying to be a doctor or something, then you should be probably be concerned)

2. COFFEE IS EVERYTHING!!

Not only is it delicious, but it is an absolute must if we're going to have to remember all of this material. Or if you're anything like me, it's so you can stay up long enough to finish all of your projects and papers that you had all semester to finish, but decided to wait until the last minute to perfect.. Yeah, I know you people are out there.

3. Or that point in the night where you just want to give up:

You're probably calculating the lowest possible grade you can get on the final and still pass just so you know what kind of stress you really need to have. We've all been there.

4. Then you get really worked up when your teacher gives you a bad grade:

I mean how hard is it to give a student a decent grade when they clearly gave their best effort and did what you asked them too? Opinion grading can be so harsh and annoying sometimes!

5. When you spot a friend in the library and crave any and all kinds of social interaction, including getting more coffee:

Thank goodness for friends. If it weren't for them and coffee, I'd probably be half way to an insane asylum. At least we have each other!

6. Then having to reassure yourself that taking a break is okay:

Cramming is normal. Breaks are normal. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Even your parents.. though they are right. You shouldn't have waited so long to write that paper.

7. Realizing that you're slowly becoming addicted to coffee:

No matter how much you drink, sometimes it's never enough and the barista is getting concerned that you're on your fourth cup of the day. But you have to explain to them how important their job is to you.. they'll appreciate it and maybe let you go. When the bartender is tell you the same thing though... maybe you should actually listen to them.

8.Thinking about possibly paying your teacher off:

It'll probably never work, but it's run through all of our minds..

Just please, don't try it! That only works in the movies (sometimes.)

9. Crying is okay-- "no blubbering!"

It's okay to shed a few tears, but no one has time to deal with a blubbering student's problems. We have enough our own.

10. But nothing compares to the feeling when you finally get your grades back and you passed:

Hope you enjoyed a little finals week humor and hopefully this was also a little reminder that it's only five days long.. we can get through this! Good luck!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
