Finals Week As Told By "New Girl"

It's the dreaded week that makes you want to crawl into a black hole.

Finals Week As Told By "New Girl"
Giphy

1. You begin looking at your planner and realizing how many exams you have to study for in the next week. A common thought at this point: "How will I survive this?"

2. You head to the library to study your life away, knowing that as those elevator doors close you off from any contact with the outside world, there is no return.

3. You begin the studying process, but it's hard to know where to begin. Which exam is first? Which exam is worth the most points? Ugh, you're doomed.

4. After days of trapping yourself into the dark tunnel of misery, aka studying, you have lost it. What is studying anymore? The more you read, the more the words seem like a different language. It's been days since you've eaten, showered, and slept. Nothing is good.

5. Things continue getting worse as the days progress. The tests are approaching, and the pressure is getting to you so much that you start letting your crazy show. Your friends start questioning your sanity, with good reason. Update: still haven't eaten, showered, or slept.

6. You finally feel accomplished because you studied for one exam. Then, you remember that you have to study for four more. When does this misery end?

7. Your parents and friends call to check in on you at this time only to find that it was a mistake. You're angry, frustrated. We get it.

8. Then you reach this point...

9. It's minutes before the exam and it all comes down to this. You cross your fingers and give yourself the extra little confidence boost you need to get through it.

10. After the series of tests later, finals week comes to a close. The anticipation sitting through your last final is killing you until you finish, but life seems to make sense again as soon as you turn it in.

11. This when the recovery process begins. This means the first thing you are doing is falling into the depths of your bed to go into a sleep coma.

12. Finishing finals calls for a celebration. Nothing deserves a toast more than getting through Hell week in one piece, and with a tiny bit of your sanity left.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
