Finals Week as Phoebe Buffay

Before finals make like a giant pigeon on your grade

Finals Week as Phoebe Buffay

Finals are upon us and all I have done for the past 48 hours is eat, sleep, and watch an unhealthy amount of the show Friends. The more I watched the more I realized....Phoebe Buffay is relatable to any student during finals week.

Pre-Finals Week

You know it's coming and you have not done a single thing to prepare. You may write out the dates and times of your finals, but when it comes to studying and getting everything together you haven't even started a plan. You're still taking tests in the class the week before the final.

The Study Guide

First we get the study guide. This doesn't seem like a huge deal because you've been taking notes and paying attention most of the time during the class. As you make your way down you start to see words you've never seen before and are not even sure of how to say them.

Studying Days Before

Then it comes to studying the material and you do everything you can to avoid it. You may clean, write a song, or may even binge watch friends and write an article about it. You do anything in hopes of putting studying off for a little bit longer.

Studying With Friends

You get a group together to study and you think you're doing good. You end up not understanding anything they are saying, but you try anyway . It is almost like they are speaking a different language.

Pulling An All-Nighter

There is so much information and so little time. Between the coffee and lack of sleep you stay up all night so you can say you tried. By 7 in the morning your eyes hurt, your head hurts, and you are hoping you retained a third of the information.

Walking Into Class That Day

You've been stressing, studying, and struggling to make it through. Now the time has come to show what you know.

When You Realize You May Get Points For Writing Your Name

No matter how much studying you did or did not do, there is one thing you will always know for sure..your name. You want all the points you can get even if you get them from putting your name at the top of your test. This isn't the case for every final, but sometimes we get lucky.

When You Think You Know The Multiple Choice Answer, But It Isn't Even An Option

You thought you knew it. You studied all night. You get to a multiple choice and what you thought was the answer isn't even an option.

You Are Almost Done With The Test

You're making it through the test and you know some of the words. You're almost done, just push through!

It's Over!

No matter the grade, your test is over. You get out as fast as you can!

Eat, Study, And Repeat

You've made it through one, but chances are you have several more through the week. You are already exhausted and ready to go home! Just a few more all-nighters, lots more coffee, hopefully some sleep, and some good grades to show all of the work paid off.

By The End Of Finals Week

You may be sleep deprived and delusional, but you made it through!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
