Biography

There is nothing that any college student dreads more than finals week (and checking your bank account). As we enter the week with so many emotions, and summer vacation is on the tips of our tongues, here are 13 thoughts college students have during finals week.

1. Trying to ask the smart kid in class to tutor you before the exam.

You haven't really been paying that much attention in lecture, and you missed a few classes here and there for "personal reasons" (aka you just didn't feel like coming).

2. Pretending to be interested in the final exam review lecture, when all you can think about is summer.

Sorry professor, I really do not care what the difference between dominant and recessive sex-linked genes.

3. When the professor says, "Guys, this is easy stuff. We learned it the first week of class."

Yeah, I totally remember what I learned during the first week of class.

4. You actually think about how far behind you are and you have no idea what you're doing with your life.

What if I don't get a job after I graduate?

5. ALL you can think about is where you're going to travel to this summer.

The waves crashing, the seagulls, the smell of the fresh beach air...

6. You give yourself multiple pep talks throughout the day.

Is it really college if you don't cry at least once a day? No. It's not.

7. All you want to do is scream.

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.

8. When you have to calculate the exact grade you will need to pass the class and get the credit.

Okay...so what do I need to get on the final exam in order to have a 70 overall grade...?

9. When the professor assigns one last extra credit assignment.

Even if the assignment is to write a four-page paper summarizing everything you learned this past semester, it's still worth it. Every. Point. Counts.

10. When you read the entire textbook in one night.

Suddenly you know everything and you're like, really smart now.

11. When the professor tells you that the final exam is cumulative.

Whoever thought that cumulative final exams were a good idea is an evil, evil human being.

12. You and your friends are counting down the hours until you can go home for summer vacation.

13. When you know you bombed that final exam, but you're going home so you don't care.

Yeah, I probably failed that. But I don't care because I never have to sit through this nasty class ever again. PEACE.

Finals will be quickly approaching. Just remember to relax! Finals week will be over before you know it, and you'll be sitting on the beach relaxing, tanning, and soaking up the sun!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
