Now that all the stress from finals is over and semester grades are being finalized, what are we supposed to do?
It is weird not waking up and seeing your roommate's face. But that is what SnapChat is for! Also, you have your family again, which means you do not have to do your own laundry, cook or clean. Mom (a.k.a. your maid) is back!
In addition, you get to see your high school friends again. Friends from back home make winter break much better. You do not always get to see them because they go to different schools than you, so winter break is your reunion. They basically become your new roommate, seeing them everyday and sometimes being with them for a full 72 hours.
Being home for break also means lots of shopping and much needed R&R. Lets not forget about your bed from back home. It’s like coming home and sleeping on a cloud for a month. Don’t tell Mom and Dad, but the reason why you spend so much time at home is because of your bed.
Another reason why coming home for break is amazing: your pets. SnapChat is now full of “reunited with this cutie” or “look who missed me” snaps of your pets. I know my dogs make my coming home so much better because they get so excited to see me. Yes, my family does too, but the pets are just the icing on the cake.
Now lets not forget about the most important thing about winter break... THE HOLIDAYS! Hello people, Christmas is just around the corner. Yes the stress of school is over, but the stress of gift giving has come upon us. Even though Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, the gift giving gives me anxiety. Finding the perfect present for everyone is somewhat overpowering because you want everyone to love what they got. Now Christmas isn’t all about presents, lets not forget the holiday food. Eating your way farther into the freshman fifteen or the sophomore slump is not hard due to the excess sweets and delicious food around the table.
Once Christmas is over, your need for school is setting in more and more, but lo and behold it is another holiday. This holiday is designed to drink your sorrows away into the next year, literally. New Year's Eve a day everyone loves to forget and New Years Day, a day for recovery. The New Years resolutions are made, the gyms are full and the need for school has become more evident.
Now everyone finals are over and break is here, so what now? I’ll tell you, Christmas, New Year's, family, friends and food. That is what now.
