As most of us know, it’s that wonderful time of the year, finals season! As many of us, including myself, our stressing endlessly and living off of coffee, we cannot forget one very important moment that has occurred. Taylor Swift has released her new album "Reputation"!
With that being said, here is one thing that will motivate you during these difficult and dark times. When you run out of coffee, or energy drink whichever you prefer, turn to these classic lines in each of Taylor’s new songs to know that you are truly not alone in the fight against finals!
"…Ready For It?"
Are you ready for it? / Ooh, are you ready for it? / Baby, let the games begin / Let the games begin
Let's be honest, is anyone ever really ready for finals? If you were, you rock! But if you are like me, you are currently on the struggle bus. So, let finals begin!
"End Game"
Big reputation, big reputation / Ooh, you and me, we got big reputations, ah
Finals had a big reputation for causing college students an unhealthy amount of stress and exhaustion, and students have a reputation for procrastinating. Being titled End Game is deeply accurate.
"I Did Something Bad"
They say I did something bad / But why's it feel so good?
I am terrible when it comes to studying and am the biggest procrastinator I know. It definitely feels good in the moment to put off studying but it is indeed very bad.
"Don’t Blame Me"
Don't blame me, love made me crazy / If it doesn't, you ain't doin' it right
This line is most appropriate if you think of love as finals. If finals doesn't make you crazy, you didn't do something right, just ask any college student.
"Delicate"
This ain't for the best / My reputation's never been worse
Finals truly takes a hit at our reputations (GPAs).
"Look What You Made Me Do"
I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
No one trusts final exams because studying and finals season puts everyone on edge. Furthermore, finals keeps everyone busy so don't trust me to get anything else done besides studying!
"So It Goes…"
'Cause we break down a little
TRUTH, we all break down a little, maybe a lot for some of us, during finals!
"Gorgeous"
And I'm so furious / At you for making me feel this way
The levels of stress and caffeine running through my veins leaves me angry with finals season. Sounds like Taylor has gone through it also.
"Getaway Car"
It was the best of times, the worst of crimes
Now, I wouldn't say finals is the "best of times" but it is definitely a crime.
"King Of My Heart"
I'm perfectly fine, I live on my own
If you continually remind yourself that "it's fine, I'm fine," you will indeed be perfectly fine. Just listen to "Reputation" and you will be calm again.
"Dancing With Our Hands Tied"
You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it / I had a bad feeling
Nothing can stop finals. Not even an apocalypse. Finals leaves a bad feeling that lingers all around you for two weeks. If you see a friend, give them a "good luck"!
"Dress"
All of this silence and patience, pining and anticipation
After the exams have been completed, everyone's stress increases because then we get the grades back. This may be the worst part.
"This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things"
So why'd you have to rain on my parade?
Life was going great, fall break/Thanksgiving just ended and we were all so happy, and then finals hit us like a train.
"Call It What You Want"
My castle crumbled overnight / I brought a knife to a gunfight
This may be the most accurate one and written just for us struggling college students. Everyone's sanity crumbled overnight and we feel so ill-prepared. You've got this though!
"New Year’s Day"
I can tell that it's gonna be a long road
With finals ending, college is viewed as a long road, but it's going to be great!
Finals may wreck us, drive us insane, leave you with more caffeine than blood in your veins, but it'll be worth it when the good luck inside the songs on "Reputation" take full effect and help us pass. Good luck to everyone on finals!!!
