The homestretch is here, and I’m sure we are all getting that same feeling right about now. That feeling of “my professors have had all semesters to give me these projects and papers, but instead they all set the due date for the same week” and the other feeling of “having to move out in less than three weeks.” I know. I can feel the acne rapidly appearing on my face too. But in light of all of the stress, frustration, and lack of sleep, I think we all need a little reminder of all the things we can smile about while we endure the unwanted pain of the next few weeks.
Warm sunny days
I’ve lived in New England since September and I quickly learned how you have to embrace the days when the sun is out and it’s warm enough for a trip to Beaver Pond.
Cookies from the cafeteria
I know that the food from the cafeteria gets old vey quick, but there is something about the carnival cookies that never gets old.
Getting mail
Nothing compares to the exciting feeling you get when you get the white strip in your mailbox.
Canceled classes
When you wake up for your 8am and see the email saying that your class is canceled. That, my friends, is my favorite type of email.
Laughter
Whether you are laughing at how bad your day has been or you’re laughing because you just witness someone fall, all laughter is good for the soul.
Kids
Okay so maybe this is weird but kids are ALWAYS full of fun.
Seeing compassion in action
Whenever I see someone showing compassion for someone else, it brings a smile to my face.
Random text
One of my favorite things is getting a text from someone back home. Just a text from my dad saying “have a good day, Lucy”, makes my day.
Having a clean room
Although making my bed and picking my clothes up off of my floor is the biggest pain, coming back to my room after a long day and seeing a clean room is a stress reliever.
Don’t forget to remind yourself of the little things in life that make you smile. With finals coming up, it’s so easy to get bogged down with crabby moods. Spread some love!
XOXO,
Liza
