As soon as August hits, we all know what’s coming, two weeks and it begins all over again. Whether you’re excited or not (and who isn’t) to return to the swamp, take the final two weeks before school to get this checklist taken care of.
- Last Time For Plans
Whether you have sent this message or received it, we have all been victims involved in the “we have to hang out this summer” text. Granted, sometimes we’re just being polite and not actually expecting the plan to go through, but if there are people that you really wanted to meet up with, now’s the time to get that done.
2. Anything Work Related
If you’re working away from school, immediately give your boss your two-week notice. The last thing you want is a bad image with the company due to not reminding them of the small detail that you’ll be leaving for college. For those finishing up that internship, don’t forget to ask for any letters of recommendation with two -weeks’ notice and to follow through with thank you letters.
3. Start Packing Now
Even though there’s nothing like an all-nighter packing party with an epic playlist to go along, it's best to start little by little while you have time. Based on what you brought, decide if you’ll use it while in school and if there’s anything from home that you want to take back.
4. Roommates
If you have new roommates for the semester. or even if you’ve known them but it’s the first time living together, start getting in touch. Asking for things that will be needed for the dorm or apartment as well as when each of you will be arriving will ease off the hassle on moving day.
5. Classes
Not to put a damper on your summer vibe, but by now you’ve probably gotten at least one professor email about the upcoming course. Even though your heart sunk a little, it’s never a bad time to get an early start looking at the syllabus, especially if it’s a new professor or the class has been revamped.
6. Start Saying Goodbyes
Depending on location, some people will have to be said goodbye to earlier than others. Whether friends, family or yes, a summer fling, some things are just better said in person. Take time to plan out your rounds, as the next meet up may be late in the fall.
Though we go to school in Florida, weekly beach outings and lazy weeks will soon turn into tailgating and all-nighters at Club West, but it all had to start again at some point. See you in two weeks, Gator Nation.
