Last year, I managed to go to California three times during the school year, I went to Spain over winter break, and I went into the city - Chicago - way more than I should have. Let's just say I find a lot of things to be more important than school. In three weeks, I will be flying to San Jose, California for a long weekend and missing my fourth to last day of college ever. Before you sneer at me or tell me that I am wasting my tuition money, I think you're wrong. Sure some classes are fun but most classes I sit on Facebook and work on other homework the whole time.

Life has so much to offer us and all that we have been taught over the years is that we can not get a job or function in society without a college degree. Let me tell you a few jobs that you don't need a college degree for:
Computer Programmer
Web Developer
Real-estate Broker
Claims Adjuster
Gaming Manager
Commercial Pilot

The way I see it, we have all grown up being told that we need this to be a functioning adult but we also need to get out of Naperville or where ever you might be and really live, without a schedule, without expectations. My life has changed immensely from just going outside of my comfort zone, traveling alone, and not being on a schedule. I'm a more driven person now and I feel like I have become more well rounded, oh and, surprise!, I still keep my GPA at a 3.0.

I have just slammed the idea of a college degree so why am I in college you're asking? I made a deal with my dad that I would in fact get a degree, so I am in IMS Technology. I've learned a lot of coding but nothing a book or Youtube couldn't have taught me. I've had irreplaceable experiences and made lifelong friends but done it while not being a slave to North Central College.

When I take trips, I ask around to see if anyone wants to go with me, the answers never fail to be the same. The answer is consistently, "I can't, I have school." Yeah, school is important but just not as important as learning outside of the classroom is for me. I get asked all the time how I do it, well, if you want something bad enough you make it work.

I respect your decision to go to school and to be a good student but don't let any institution keep you from exploring the world outside of this tiny little box.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
