Why Feminism Is Possibly The Worst Thing Ever

This is no longer a fight for equal rights

Why Feminism Is Possibly The Worst Thing Ever
Huffington Post UK

This article might receive a large amount of negative feedback, but I don't really care. I'm pissed off at the American feminist movement, and I'm going to say some offensive things to those who are complaining and protesting against the supposed lack of equality.

To start, I want to point out how far America has come in the fight for gender equality. In the 19th and 20th centuries, women's rights sucked. I just spent 5 weeks learning about this in my law class, and it was very eye opening. Women could not vote. They could not work more than 10 hours a day, and there were certain professions that were simply off limits. Minimum wage for women was different than that of men, and the Supreme Court actually made the case that "a woman's main purpose is the childbearing and rearing of healthy offspring."

Knowing that, look around you today. A woman is running for President. Minimum wage is equal for men and women. We don't have an limit to how long we can work in a day. I spent 14 hours straight sitting at my desk job this past week, and no one said a word. My doctor is a woman. My boss is a woman. On November 8, I have the privilege to vote as a woman. It is my freedom to decide who I want to marry, how many children I want to have, and what my future is like. My point is: We are doing pretty damn well for a female population that was very limited just 100 years ago.

I'm not against equal rights as citizens. It's clearly stated in the Constitution, of which I am a strong believer of. However, what I am completely against is the man-hating that feminism has become. This is no longer a fight for equal rights. This is women protesting on the streets shirtless, holding signs that say "My body to give, not yours to take." This is women legitimately enraged because God created only their sex to be able to reproduce, and they want that privilege to be an option, not a sweet and beautiful joy. This is women angrily demanding their right to dress how they want, sleep with who they want, and say whatever they want -- without men looking at them for a second too long or speaking of them in a judging manner.

This, my friends, is what feminism has become. In a country where equal rights is really not a prominent issue, women have turned to man-hating. It's the worst.

Let's talk for a minute about men. They are biologically the stronger sex. Look back on the history of the earth and tell me you can't disagree. For decades, they have led families, careers, and government. They treat us to dates, hold the door open for us, and are sensitive to our feelings. Why? Because - and hold onto your seats because this is about to be a huge trigger - we are the weaker sex. BOOM. Bomb dropped, I know.

But I honestly believe this to be true. Yes, I know, I'm only a 21 year old college student with a whole life of experiences ahead of me; who am I to say that women are weaker than men? I grew up in a home with 4 brothers. My Sunday afternoons were spent playing tackle football in the back yard. During Saturday chores, I was right by their side, mowing the lawn, cleaning the pig pen, and hauling wood. Never once did I doubt my strength, but I always knew that if I was unable to lift the wheelbarrow or push the lawn mower around the yard in 90 degree heat, my brother would be right my side to step in for me (even though they are younger!)

I do want to say something very important, however. Not all men are loving, kind, and gentleman-like. Some women experience abuse, both physically and emotionally. Others are even raped. In our sick and twisted world, there are men out there who should most definitely be disliked.

But this article is in regards to the overall male gender in general, not the men who have raped or abused.

So here's my message to the feminists out there who hate men while essentially wishing they could be just like them: embrace being a woman. Use your strengths God has given you, but also let men be the leaders God created them to be. Be confident and stand up for your opinions, but do so in a way that is beautiful, loving, and doesn't destroy men.

And one more thing. Please stop fighting for the right to choose when it comes to pregnancy. I know that it's "your body" and that you want the right to do whatever you want with it. But when you make the conscious decision to have sex, you have to know that pregnancy is very possible. That decision could make a living human (no matter how small), so don't you dare demand the freedom to kill a baby that YOU made. It makes no sense, and it's cruel, heartless, and just as bad as hating men. In addition, it costs money that could be put towards actual needs and ventures in America.

If we're real about feminism, it's going to get nowhere. Instead of focusing on the "evil" in the male population (they're not even evil, but ok), let's shift our gaze to the actually life-changing events occurring in America -- the election, terrorism, the economy -- you get the point.

And to all you feminists who are reading this and raging right now: I'm not sorry. The goal was to trigger you (and hopefully make you realize how stupid this movement is).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
