Feminism, It Is Important.

Feminism, It Is Important.

A multitude of individuals claim they are "so over" the Feminist movement. We are progressing. We are "ahead" of other countries. If we are progressing, then why the hell would we stop? If we are ahead, then why wouldn't we assist others in catching-up? If we use the logic displayed in the listed arguments, progressing and over-achieving is an indicator to forget the issues and settle for "some" progress.

Where is your fight?

As a twenty year-old female, I have experienced sexual-objectification, sexual assault, sexual harassment, I am unable to run outside alone without hearing a man yell a perverted comment at me, honk, or whistle, and there is no end to the amount of sexist comments directed towards me or other women. I have met a plethora of strong and courageous women who have experienced sexism through the American justice system as their rapists will never be held accountable and in the work place where he remains the boss despite sexual harassing workers while she was fired.

It is disgusting that women and men listen to endless accounts of sexism and objectification and feel no anger or desire for a change. Feminism calls for equal opportunities, equal rights, equal experiences and simply, the demand that women are treated the same as men. Hating men is not feminism. The purpose of the Feminist Movement is to establish equality and educate individuals about the multitude of sexism present in our world. Remember the definition every time you roll your eyes at an individual sharing their experiences or when you claim you do not support Feminism.

As far as progress, I too thought progress was being made until America elected Donald Trump as the president of the United States.

"They are just words"

"Boys will be boys"

"It is just locker room talk"

They are only words to those who have never experienced being grabbed, touched, or kissed against their will. They are only words until they become actions and your horrifying, life-altering experiences are minimized. They are only words to those who do not understand the impact of words.

It does not have to continue.

The Feminist Movement is essential to establishing equality for all women and improving how women are treated around the world. It is purposeful to protest as millions of women recently participated in the Women's March across the world. Through peaceful protests, Americans have prompted change throughout history. In the Children's March of 1963, the public pressure prompted the removal of the racist mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to the Civil Rights Movement, women activists have been relentlessly advocating for voting rights, job opportunities, political opportunities, and fighting gender roles placed upon them by men. Male and Female protestors have been positively and effectively impacting the world throughout history by peacefully protesting.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
