11 Feelings A College Student Gets During Finals

We've all gotta be feeling this right now.

By now, we've become all to familiar with that feeling in the pit of our stomachs that tell us it's once again time for finals. Now that the week is finally upon us, we can begin studying in time to have everything together; or procrastinate, probably. Regardless, here are 11 things probably running through yours and my head right about now.

1. The stress

Just thinking about all that work piling up really makes you want to fall into a stress-induced coma. That, or move to another country and assume a new identity. But at least its just for a week, right?... Right?

2. That unhelpful professor

There's only a few days left before your exam. Review day is here, so everything from here on out should be simple. Suddenly, the professor begins going over the exam. "It'll be cumulative!" They say, "There should around 30 short answer with three essays too!" This is the first section of many, apparently, and must be completed in tandem with a take home assignment. You begin weeping at your desk in the corner.

3. That one exam

We all know that one exam. You've studied for ages for it, and you're more than prepared. You walk into the classroom feeling prepared and ready, and you finally sit down to begin. Then, after fifteen minutes of mulling over the pages, you realize: none of this makes any sense at all. In fact, it's almost like you've been attending the wrong class all year. Oh well!

4. The overwhelming loss of hope

The light is beginning to fade as the night before exams begin. It would take a miracle to get through this week alive, so maybe turning to a higher power could help? It's gotta be worth a shot.

5. Finishing an exam suspiciously early

Wow, that test was really, really easy. That must have been a new record! Wait, why is everyone still sitting down? Am I the first out? Should I just wait for someone else to leave? I'm going to fail, aren't I?

6. Doing a project the night before it was due and getting a good grade

It took roughly six hours, but you did it. It's covered in coffee stains and what looks like dried tears, but the professor actually seemed to like it! Maybe now you can finally get some sleep.

7. Realizing half of your exams are all on the same day

So that idea from earlier about leaving the country might be more promising than I thought. Actually, maybe NASA is looking to send someone into space for research? I hear there aren't many exams being given on the ISS.

8. Having an 8 a.m. exam or earlier

You got three hours of sleep last night, but your exams don't care. Looks like it's time to wake up before the sun and blindly fumble out the door into the cold, cold world.

9. When your friends finish finals before you

It seems like just about everyone on campus is packing up, but you still have three exams left! the most you can do is buckle down and wish you were on the other side.

10. How you feel after finishing a long exam

Whether you beat the exam or vice versa is really a tough call. After all, you're never going to get back those two hours.

11. Finally going home, leaving finals far behind

It's finally over! Time to go home and relax for the holidays. Just try to not think too hard about grades coming in soon.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
