12 Artists Of The 2000s To Add To Your #TBT Playlist

Because we all need to take a trip down memory lane.

12 Artists Of The 2000s To Add To Your #TBT Playlist

Exactly one month from this weekend I will be graduating from college and -- between you and me -- I am definitely nervous. I mean, when did this happen? I feel like just yesterday I was a little kid dancing around my grandma's house blasting Britney Spears and arguing who the lead in singer in Dream Street was. So instead of worrying about what the future has to hold, let's take a step back, pull out our old "NOW" CDs and remember the good old days with this ultimate #tbt to our favorite childhood singers/bands.

1. Britney Spears

Prior to her little rough patch in 2007, Britney Spears was an icon to '90s girls with hits like "Hit Me Baby One More Time" on her "Oops!... I Did It Again" CD. Personally, I always hoped her music video would take place on an ocean with some cute sailors, but you do you, Britney.

2. Destiny's Child

Yes, Beyonce was once a part of a trio consisting of herself, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. See, boys? We're suspicious for a reason.

3. Dream Street

Sorry, One Direction! Step aside, because Dream Street will always have a place in our hearts. Swoon. Too bad their parents got involved following a legal dispute -- the band broke up in 2002. Comeback tour, please?

4. *NSYNC

Even though Justin Timberlake's hair looked like a bowl of ramen, *NSYNC was always an obvious favorite. Between their upbeat and dance-worthy music, there's no question this boy band still has a piece of our hearts (and iTunes playlists). But here's the real question, Team *NSYNC or Team Backstreet Boys?

5. Backstreet Boys

For those of you whose cup of tea wasn't *NSYNC, perhaps you preferred the musical selections of the Backstreet Boys. I personally was a fan of both, but regardless of your boy band preference, you have to agree, this music video is weird.

6. Aaron Carter

Who didn't want to attend Aaron Carter's infamous party? In my opinion, though, Carter looks a little too young to be at his own party, but kudos to you kid. I hope Candy had fun.

7. Hilary Duff

The star of "Lizzie McGuire" and idol of many '90s girls (and personally my favorite), is thankfully making a comeback in the music industry. Now all we have to do is convince Disney Channel to do a reunion show. Whether or not that happens, we still love Hilary Duff.

8. S Club 7

Confused, and don't remember who they even are? Watch the music video. It will all come flooding back and you will be belting out to a song you probably haven't heard since you were 10.

9. Aly & AJ

Need an angsty break-up song before you even had a boyfriend to forget your birthday? Yeah, we all did.

10. Christina Aguilera

One thing you can't argue is that she has a tremendous voice. Aguilera won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1999. She is now a judge on the "The Voice."

11. Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne brought out every '90s girl's inner rocker sk8r chick. Don't lie, I know you have a pink tie somewhere in the back of your closet. Mine was attached to a sweater, which I thankfully left in grade school.

12. Kelly Clarkson

The first "American Idol" winner took America by storm with powerful vocals and fierce personality. Today, she is still very active in the music industry and performed at one of "American Idol's" final episodes. I dare you not to cry.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
