Remember when you were young and someone asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up? We could instantly answer... a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer. It’s like you always have such big dreams and desires to please people and to succeed that when you end up disappointing people, you feel unworthy of grace.
Four years of college has taught me so much. I went in headstrong. I went in with the intentions of being premed, but however, at the end of my first semester, I realized it just was not for me. I changed my major and tried something different. For me, it was embarrassing. Maybe for you too?
I think college is one of the most difficult times of our lives. Most of us feel lost, confused, and as mentioned before, unworthy. Whether you are a woman or a man, finding your own way and your own place can become rather difficult. It’s our first time making real-life decisions and whoa! It’s crazy scary that you have to find something to do with your life after high school and most importantly you want to find something that you actually enjoy.
So this post is for you. If you are not where you want to be in life yet, don’t stop there. Continue to search for what will fulfill your heart and something that you actually want to do every day. Being lost in life is sometimes OK. You only get one life to “adult” and you want to do it right. You don’t want anyone disappointed in you. Mainly you just want to succeed and become all you’ve dreamed of. Lastly, that feeling of unworthiness, well that’s OK, too. You may think you do not deserve things, you may think you are not strong enough for the battles you’re fighting but let me reassure you, you are.
Wherever you are in life do not allow anyone or anything to dampen these years for you. Enjoy the years. Finding yourself, finding a career, finding new friends, you can do it all. So keep your head up, accept the setbacks, and have a good time. You will never get these years back.
So with that, go grab a margarita or beer with a friend and stop stressing over a boy/girl, a class, your roommate. Just take in these years of your life and let everything else go.
