These are a few of my favorite things.

February Favorites
Haley Biddle

I just want to begin this month's end saying thank you. Whoever, wherever, whenever you are, it means a lot. Whether you've had a class with me, lived with me, or only know me in 2D, thank you for reading my weekly words and listening to what I have to say. Now after the sappy spiel, here are my ritualistic monthly faves.

The monthly Spotify playlist. This month and even the one prior, new music has been popping up like rabid squirrels at a nut farm. Below you will see new noise from Khalid, Big Sean, Jessie James Decker, Lana Del Ray, Frank Ocean, and more. Take a taste of February.

Pocket Points. Pocket Points is an app designed primarily for students to reward not being on your phone in class or while studying. You simply lock your phone within the app while on campus and on wifi and based on how many people are on the app at the time, you will be rewarded a certain amount of points for staying off of your phone. The rewards come in free and buy one get one coffee, food, and more. From my recent use, the benefits can be very persuasive and help me stay off my phone when I need to!

Starbucks' "Cup of Sunshine" drink. If you are on the hunt for a new Starbucks drink, or even if you're not, you should try the Cup of Sunshine. I've gotten several people already hooked on the secret drink and now you can be too. To make it easy on the barista, because some don't know all the secret drinks people come up with, ask for the Passion Tea with apple juice (, you won't regret it).

Grandiose barbecue burgers. I'm not sure if this is subconsciously an effort to eat more bread than usual, as I am attempting to live without it for 40 some days, or just to satisfy immense weekly barbecue cravings, but these fiends have been my go to. The more cheesy, barbecuey, oniony, bacony, juicy, the better.

Becca highlighter. This is not the first time I have purchased or used the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Opal. Actually, after purchasing it 4 times, I've decided I'm not myself without it and owe it some screen time in a monthly faves. This shade, in particular, is very versatile in its taste of skin hues and with the bronze glow being the only shade in style, it is all you need.

Black Apple Watchband. I suppose it's important to have an Apple Watch first, but after said fact, the Black Woven Nylon Apple Watch Band is the next level. Not looking as casual as the sport band, the nylon band will dress up your wrist and be as secure as a seatbelt. (And if you do end up sweating in it, it can easily be cleaned with soap and water.)

Baby pink nail polish. Not as clean as white, but not as vibrant as hot pink, baby pink might be the new nude. Classy and feminine, a couple of my favorites are Essie Ballet Slippers and SNS Sweet Dreams. Here's to not being absorbed by the infinite color wheel next time.

Tune in next month for the new new.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Whether you grew up going to the lake, have only recently started going, or have only been once or twice, you know it takes a certain kind of person to be a lake person. To the long-time lake people, the lake holds a special place in your heart, no matter how dirty the water may look.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
