my top 10 favorite things about my new husband
Candace Middleton / Sarah Henson

Now that we've been married for a few weeks, I just want to tell you a few things.

1. I can thank God that you're my husband

You're really, truly, the best human being on the entire planet. And that's saying something, considering I'm surrounded by so many people. You have been my person since 2014, and I know you'll continue to be my person until death does us part.

2. You bring me so much happiness, no matter how down I'm feeling

You never cease to make me laugh. You're the funniest person I know, and I'm so happy that I'm in a place where I can say that I'm safe enough to experience happiness without judgment.

3. You know the exact thing to say

There's never a time where even when you do something wrong that you can't make it right. You've always known what to do to make me feel better, whether it's to make me laugh, hold me when I'm tired or close to crying, or wipe my eyes when I am crying. You always have the exact right words for any and every occasion.

4. You make married life fun

Even though we aren't doing much at the moment, you always make me realize all over again why I wanted to get married in the first place. Even though you're sometimes hard to wake up in the morning, you always do, and I'm so excited for the day to begin when you do.

5. You've become more of my best friend now than ever

I have many friends and best friends in this life, but you, by far, are my favorite. You lift me up and you keep my high, and you also correct me when I need to be corrected. That's what the best of friends do, and you do it the best.

6. You're just so attractive

You kill me with how attractive you have become to me since we got married. It's not to say that you weren't attractive before; no, you have that "husband" glow that no one seems to talk about that makes me so much more attractive to me.

7. You make me feel more alive than ever

I'm not saying I felt dead before, but compared to how I feel now, I'm so glad that I'm alive! You make me try new things, you give me the opportunity to teach you new things, and you make me feel like I'm important and like I make a difference.

8. Frankly, you're dad material, and I love it.

Even though we can't have kids of our own, nor are we in a place to try and adopt or foster a child, you prove to me every day that you would be an amazing father to our future kids. I can't wait to get to the point where we can have kids of our own so that you can execute your true potential.

9. You support me no matter what

You've always been supportive of me, no matter the decision I'm making. You always guide me to making a good decision, and most of the time whatever advice you give me tends to work out in our favor.

10. You're not perfect

Nobody is perfect. Sometimes we don't see eye to eye. Sometimes we fail each other as spouses in ways we shouldn't. But the thing about that is that we experience the hurt together. Nobody is alone in this. I have some of the worst anxiety at times, and you are always here to validate my feelings and offer me words of encouragement. You aren't a perfect person, and I cherish your imperfection.

Lord knows we both try. I'm so thankful to have you as my husband. We've been together since I was seventeen, just a junior in high school. You've seen me through some of my scariest times and I hope that I don't have to experience those things with anyone else, whether they be happy or sad or anything else.

I love you so much

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
