The Best Christmas Music Of All Time

Music to ring in the Holiday season.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. Hot cocoa, family, tons of Christmas movies and decorations, and music! So many artists have contributed to the Christmas music canon, and we get to listen to all of it every single year!

Harry Connick Jr.

One of my all-time favorite artists around the Holiday season to listen to is Harry Connick, Jr. In the 80s and 90s, he brought back the class and jazziness of the first half of the century in a new way and to a new audience. His Christmas album "When My Heart Finds Christmas" is a gem! With renditions of classics such as “Let it Snow," “Sleigh Ride,” and “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” it’s a classic you just have to have on in December.

Celine Dion and Josh Groban

While they’re not as jazzy, Celine Dion’s "These Are Special Times" and Josh Groban’s "Noël" are very special and sweet collections of warm Christmas feelings. Celine’s album features the popular renditions of “Feliz Navidad,” “Blue Christmas,” and her famous “O Holy Night,” as well as popular original songs “Don’t Save it All for Christmas Day” and the hit featuring Andrea Bocceli, “The Prayer.” You cannot neglect this holiday classic. Groban’s album also features his beautiful voice on pieces like “Silent Night," “The First Noel,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey’s "Merry Christmas" is also one you can’t miss, with her own rendition of “O Holy Night,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” and the ever-so popular original “All I Want for Chrismas is You.”

George Winston

One of my family’s favorites is classical pianist George Winston’s "December." Filled with wintery tones, December is a beautiful musical painting of the winter season featuring originals and standards like “Carol of the Bells,” “Variations on Pachelbel’s Kanon," and “The Holly and the Ivy.”

Speaking of “Carol of the Bells,” you just have to listen to The Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s version. There are also singles like “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby, “Blue Chrismas” by Elvis Presley, and “Grown Up Christmas List” by Amy Grant.

Frank Sinatra

You also need to pick up Frank Sinatra’s "The Sinatra Christmas Album," which I love to listen to on vinyl with a cup of Hot Chocolate and a warm blanket. Right when it’s over, I’ll throw on Nat King Cole’s "The Christmas Song" album, with “The Christmas Song," “The Little Drummer Boy,” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.” It’s the perfect night by the fire.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

But my all-time, absolute favorite Christmas album to listen to is “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. With “O Tannenbaum," “What Child is This," “Christmastime is Here,” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing," there is no limit to the amount of times I can listen to this album on repeat!

Just listing these is making me excited to start listening. But I’m going to be patient and wait for after Thanksgiving, as is tradition.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
