I love to watch YouTube, and I couldn't help but to watch the beauty gurus make impossible-looking transformations. I watched them whenever I needed a break, when I wasn't quite sure exactly what I wanted to watch. Although I loved wearing make-up I didn't wear it on a daily basis. I only wore it for special occasions. On a day-to-day basis, I was too busy trying to get out of the house and get where I needed to go on time. I thought that I was doing well if I grabbed some lipstick, smoothed on some foundation or powder and hastily used a bit of eyeliner. That might sound like a lot, but my favorite beauty gurus showed me that I wasn't doing anything. So, here they are, my fav beauty gurus.
Scandalous Beauty
Erin Baynham taught me about the magic that could be made with MAC Cosmetics and other brands. You won't believe that I hadn't even heard of MAC before I'd watched Erin's videos. Yes. It's hard to believe, but true. I watched as she expertly used various MAC brushes and mostly MAC products to bring on the glamour. OK, I didn't rush out to buy the cosmetics line or anything. The cost of a single MAC brush was crazy-expensive to me, but I loved watch Erin show me some of the possibilities when it came to make-up.
Jackie Aina
I like Jackie Aina's humor. She's so funny, but her videos still give me useful advice. She tests out products, so I can see how they wear. Will this foundation last in hotter-than-an-oven heat or will it run down my face, making me look like melting chocolate? Jackie will let me know the truth! Her videos have me dying with laughter, but when I m ready to actually invest in products, I use her advice.
Kathryn Bedell
Kathryn Bedell's videos are easy to follow, and I love her drugstore make-up tutorials. I don't feel pressured to spend a ton on the expensive stuff. I actually tried one of her make-up looks and wore it to a beauty convention.
Destiny Lashae Makeup
Destiny really showed me what make-up could do. It could really transform your appearance, and I specifically learned how to cover under-eye circles (from being up too late at night). She even took me along to the store to buy some make-up. Well, that's not really accurate. I watched her shop in a video, and I really took her make-up recommendations to heart. I bought a few of the products that she recommended, and I have to credit her to teaching me how to put on lashes. You have to admit that her before and after photos are amazing.
Claudine Williams
And then there's me. I recently completed and posted my first full make-up video on my Somewhere Luxurious YouTube Channel. I'm still very much a beginner at this point, and I'm just posting the videos for fun and to inspire others. Hey, if I could put on lashes (and have them stay on) anyone can do it! I'm just saying! I'm planning to make more videos!
