Father’s Day truly creates perspective for keeping it simple.
So often are we preoccupied with day-to-day burdens of work and finances that we forget to take a step back and appreciate the beauty of a mid-June afternoon. It is only fitting that Father’s Day falls under the latter.
A day to commemorate the very person who teaches life’s most valuable lessons and, just as important, how to throw a tight spiral, Father’s Day is a much-appreciated day for me and takes on a new meaning as I go through college. How awesome is it that we can just crack open a cold one and hang out with our old man? That's moment that should not be taken for granted. I imagine the majority of us are taking their fathers out for a round of golf. And, obviously, you have to let Dad win on this day! Or, we're taking Dad to a baseball game to watch his beloved team play. Either way, you are spending the day in a simple way having a great time with family.
Trust me, I am by no means a philosophical genius (as my friends will be the first to tell you), but why can’t more days be spent like Father’s Day? Why can't we spend more days sitting back, relaxing and hanging out with the people we love. The charm of this idea is only too evident. With summer in full swing, this is a time when more moments like this can unfold for us college kids. This is the best time to schedule that next tee time with Dad, plan your trip to the ballpark or snag those Springsteen tickets (I assume most of your dads are Springsteen fans). The point is to get a little closer with the man who has always been there for you and have a great time together. I hope everyone had an awesome Father’s Day. I will dedicate this next Landshark to my father.
