In most cases, history repeating itself usually isn't something people are too thrilled about. However, when it comes to these 10 fashion trends, repetitiveness is a good thing.
10. Skirt Sets
In the 1970's, the skirt set wasn't quite as cute as the ones that we have today. Coming in a variety of patterns, skirt sets make picking out what you want to wear almost effortless. The 70's trend usually included a shirt paired with an at the knee skirt covered in an unpleasant pattern, where today's sets are made up of a high wasted mini skirt and a cropped top.
2. Flannels
Did the 90's grunge look with a red and black flannel ever really go out of style? I couldn't tell you a time that I don't remember not having flannels as a part of my wardrobe. Through all my phases (there's been a couple), flannels have always stuck by my side.
3. Fanny Packs
Jeans that hit at your waist and fanny packs may be mistaken for a 2016 trend, but after some research I've found that it is just 1985 coming back. This could just be me but I am in love with fanny packs, and have been long before they were sold in Victoria's Secret's PINK collection. Something about them seems too good to be true: just enough pockets for everything you need, always on your side eliminating the chance of getting it stolen and you can use it anywhere from hiking to a night out (if you wear it right).
4. Cropped Tops
I may be on the border-line for remembering fashion trends of the 90's, but my Netflix-binge-watching of Saved by the Bell has led me to believe that the crop tops that we sell at my work could have totally been worn by Kelly.
5. Jump Suits/ Rompers
Although my torso is too long for most jump suits/ rompers, I still window shop for the one I wish I could wear. Just like the other 70's trends, today's are a little more tasteful. Even Kendall Jenner wears them!
6. High Top Tennis Shoes
High top Converse are my favorite shoes, and I see more and more people wearing them everyday. After looking through some old music videos, I've learned that once again, 1985 is making a comeback!
7. 5 Panel Hats
Something about my boyfriend's parents' 5 panel hats with their Greek letters on the front from when they were in college in the 80's makes me want to go and buy my own. I always feel like a bad-ass when I wear the one that I do have; they must be magic.
8. High Wasted Denim
DJ's jeans always sat right below her belly button, just like almost every other pair of shorts that you can find in stores today. Personally, they are my go to for all kinds of outfits, and I can't say that I've seen anyone who can't pull them off.
9. JanSport Backpacks (90's)
Both my mom and my dad have had a JanSports backpack that I've wanted to steal. Unfortunately, I never got my hands on either: my mom's disappeared, and my dad uses his as a fishing backpack.
All of these trends can be worn by anyone! Just make sure to wear your confidence: it never goes out of style.
