Dear best friend,

Thank you. Thank you for supporting me and loving me regardless of the miles. Thank you being on the phone while I cry about late night studying for my test the next day. Thank you for maintaining our Snapchat streak. Thank you for being you.

I know it's hard to get together and spend time together when we are both so far from each other. I know it's hard when both your boyfriend and I are gone. I know you feel lonely when we aren't home. However, you need to know that you will never be alone.

You are such an incredible person and I know you will accomplish so much. With school and starting a new job, I feel so blessed that you make time to facetime me every single night. We haven't seen each other in so long but in some ways, it's like we haven't been separated. You've been here through it all.

I'm writing you this so that I can express just how much I appreciate your existence. You sit on the phone while I cry and you know I do the same for you. I call you with drama and gossip as we talk for hours throughout the night. You are loved and cherished so please don't forget how much you mean to me.

I admire your dedication and your motivation. You work so hard to accomplish your dreams. Once you put your mind to something you don't let it go. Never forget just how strong you are, it will take you so far in life. I admire your love for your family and friends, the loyalty you have to them is beyond anyone else I know.

You may get stressed out and feel anxiety about certain things, but I will always be here to listen and have your back. Hopefully you already know this but it is nice to have those reminders from people who care. Remember to take care of your self mentally and emotionally. It's important to both of us. I should remember this too.

School may have separated us but we have managed to keep our friendship as strong as before I left. I never thought my summer job would bring me such a wonderful and inspiring person, a friend I will have for life. I can't imagine not having a friend like you. I may not survive.

I see you in my wedding, at my kid's birthday parties, visiting for cookouts and everything else life has to offer. I truly believe I have made a friend who is here for a lifetime and I am so glad that that person is you.

You have helped me through hard times and celebrated with me through good times. You listen to me complain, thank you for being so patient. I appreciate everything you are and everything you will be. Keep working towards your dreams and never forget who you are. You are so important to me and many others.

Happy Birthday J, I love you so much.

Sincerely,

Your Best Friend: Another ADHD Student

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
