YouTube sensation and former "The Voice" contestant Christina Grimmie was shot by an obsessed fan while she was signing autographs. The fan, who supposedly listened to Christina Grimmie while he was at work, shot Grimmie at her Orlando concert on Friday, June 10.
Grimmie might be gone, but she certainly isn’t forgotten by her fans. Following news of her death, thousands of Grimmie's fans, as well as celebrity supporters, took to Twitter to express their disbelief and send prayers and good wishes.
“Why? Are you happier now?” Twitter user Angela Marquez wrote. “Rip all (Orlando) and @TheRealGrimmie a beautiful girl.”
“Speechless,” wrote a user named Aleks.
“Every time I see a headline, or tweet, or newscast about @TheRealGrimmie, I feel an ache so deep,” user Tiffany Alvord wrote. “I feel so many emotions, it’s just not right.”
Users felt that Grimmie was a talented singer. “She was so rare," wrote user Carleigh!@howyagethegirl. “She could do anything with her voice.”
Skrillex praised the young singer’s YouTube videos. “The videos she would make really made me feel special,” he wrote. “I wish I could have met you.” Skrillex said that he watched Grimmie’s videos for years.
Many users offered their prayers to Grimmie and her family. The singer had a strong Christian fan base.
“Today they lay the beautiful and talented Christina Grimmie to rest. May she rest in peace. Love u angel. Hearts,” Twitter user Breland Emory said.
“I didn’t know @TheRealGrimmie,” Christian rocker Michael Whitaker Smith wrote. “I wish I had. Can’t wait to sing with her on the other side.”
Celebs, including Demi Lovado, Selena Gomez, and Nick Jonas, offered their support to Christina’s family and prayers on Twitter. Adam Levine has supposedly offered to pay for the funeral.
“Our hearts are heavy from the loss of an incredible friend,” entertainment show "Top Five Live" tweeted. “She will be missed.”
