This summer is hotter than ever and people have been saving their money in attempts to unwind and share the value of good living and family. The concept of family is by far the most important and most satisfying thing to have, especially when you’re in need of help and teachings about the world that is ever so changing. Certain things, however, tear families apart; whether it’s family members that get divided through divorce, death or through disagreements and money complications that places a barrier on the relationship. Whatever way families become separated in times of crisis, good food through some old- fashioned home-style cooking seems to be the one thing among others that brings families together and instill family values that could grow and help mend relationships. You don’t have to be a good cook to make this happen, because the key to mending a torn relationship with family is togetherness. It’s the heart that is put in that makes all the more worthwhile, not the experience.

Think of it this way… A kid can utilize family cooking to help bring the family together amidst a divorce, and a wife can bring a home cooked meal to her husband in jail. Either way, the feeling of happiness and love is obtained through being together and having a shared moment of expressed feelings with the benefit of having a good meal to ease the soul.

The problem that lies in this generation is that many people are afraid to take that step, put away pride and engage in understanding the relationship in order to make things work. We often categorize being together as only with your significant other, and we tend to forget the other founding members of our lives that have made us into who we are today. We submerge ourselves deeper and deeper into anger, providing miscommunication between people which drives the family apart. To overcome this, pride must be set aside and both parties and groups must understand how important the relationship is before they continue to find a solution to their problems. Whether that solution comes in a form of cooking, or just a sit-down conversation, it is the thought process that goes into it that brings the family together.

Family values are an essential thing to have and it can really help in the long run if you and your family have a strong relationship. Having a strong family that is together builds your own character and can have a positive effect on your life whether it’s through a needed assistance to help you when things go bad or just having someone to talk to whenever you are feeling lonely. Mending a relationship can bring out wonders and can help close the wounds that have been opened when the relationship took a bad turn. Connecting through food can also help bring a relaxed approach to mend relationships and it also puts your stomach in a good mood.

So ask yourself this question… Who will you share a home cooked meal with this summer?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
