Ah, summer. Three whole months dedicated to recovery and relaxation. It's time filled with parties, bonfires, pool time, and unfortunately (sometimes) family picnics. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and look forward to seeing them but I do not look forward to endless questions about my love life, my grades, and what I want to do for the rest of my life.

The moment your mom tells you the date of your annual family picnic.

When you wake up and realize you're not at college anymore and have to live by your parents rules, therefore, you have to go the family event.

When you first arrive and all your relatives flock to greet you.

Or you arrive and no one even notices.

When you've already been there for what seems like hours and the food still isn't ready.

When the time comes to finally eat.

When the endless questions about why you're still single begin.

Followed by the questions on how college is going.

When you see a familiar face, and know you're related to them but still don't know their name.

When you watch all your younger cousins run around and have fun and you have to sit with the grown ups.

When you look around wonder how you could possibly be related to any of these people.

But then you look around and realize you love them anyways.
