Living away from home gives new light to things I never thought about before.
Not having my family around all the time is a new experience that made me realize just how important they are and just how close we were. Growing up, I had both of my parents and my brother around, plus a lot of my extended family, which makes me very lucky. My mom and I are very close we have a good relationship, which I love.
Being away even though it has only been about a month has been hard. I have wanted to run back home a few times just to be around them again. So now that I'm not with them and I have found out how lucky I am, I would just like to say thank you to all of my family. They have been my protectors when I have needed it the most, along with being my best friends when I have needed someone to talk to. They would be there for me through anything and help me with anything that I need. Looking back at the 18 years that I spent at home I now know that I didn't know how lucky I was to have everyone that I did.
They took my best friends in as part of the family, which not all do. They took care of them when they needed it, too. Making my friends into family members was one of the best ways they could show just how much they truly care and love me. My friends are part of my family in my mind, so to have my blood family call them family it was amazing.
As a family we may have our issues, because what family doesn't? But we still love and care for each other. Every family fights, whether they are big or little, real or play, it's okay.
My mom is one person that I know that I can always talk to and she will always be there for me. Knowing I have her and everyone else in my family there for me is the best feeling I know. Being able to see her on the occasions that I do are even better now than before.
The point that I am getting at is that you should realize the family that you have in front of you and appreciate them for all that they are. They are the people in your life that will support you in what you do. They could also be the best people in your life. Not all of your family is blood related- your friends can be the family that you have. You can also have spilt family or your friends and family can become one big family. There are no set things a family must have, but a good family has love and lots of it. There is no such thing as a perfect family, the perfect family for you is perfectly imperfect. Love the family you have and bring others into your family. Everyone needs some one to love them and family is perfect for that.
