The 5 Best Things About Having A Cousin Your Age

You know what they say… blood is thicker than water.

In most cases, there is no deeper bond than family and sometimes family really is all you have. With that in mind, true friends are hard to come by, so having a cousin as a built-in best friend makes life way more convenient… talk about killing two birds with one stone!

1. Best friend forever

The good thing about having a cousin your age is that they know who you truly are and still love you. They were raised with you and have gone through everything with you from the very beginning. Of course, they don't have that much of a choice but to love you, but either way, they will always be there no matter what.

2. You can relate

Now, not only are you family but being around the same age is a major bonus that not many people have. You can hang out all the time and get to become friends with their friends. Or maybe you just know each other's friends from venting all the time. Regardless, you guys can relate to one another on a different level than your other cousins and truly be involved in each other's lives... not just on Christmas.

3. Family parties are better

Even if your family is super crazy and fun, having your favorite cousin there makes it that much better. There is always so much more chaos to cause, drama to start, and fun to have when the other cousin is around.

4. There are no expectations

Having your cousin as your best friend is just so damn easy. You don't have to feel pressured to always have something extravagant planned because it really doesn't matter. Hanging out and watching a million movies is all you need because there is no need to worry or put on the ol' razzle dazzle... they love you anyway. Your friendship is real and nothing can change that.

5. There will always be complete honesty

Let's face it, no one is going to be more honest to you than your own flesh and blood. Your cousin is never going to lie to you (about the important things, of course). Not that your friends would, but going back to the no expectations thing, your cousin has absolutely no reason to lie. There is no (or should be no) reason for jealousy or competition. Sometimes girls can be sneaky and have hidden motives, but your cousin will always have your best interest in mind. Honestly, they might even tell you if you look fat in those pants… they know you can't get rid of them!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
