If you are a fall addict like me, you have found your self enthusiastically counting the days until autumn arrives because, let’s face it - IT’S OFFICIALLY THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR! Why?
Because if you live in the south, it doesn’t feel like you’re stepping into an oven or sauna when you go outside; and if you live in the north, it doesn’t feel like you’ve plunged yourself into a bucket of ice. The temperature is simply embraceable. Also, all of the leaves have changed into those beautiful hues of reds, oranges, yellows and browns that serve to remind us that a new season is upon us. There is a definite attractiveness about fall. The air is crisp (you can begin to see your breath) and has a smell about it that just feels like we’re embarking on something new; it’s not a particular, singular smell (pumpkin spice, anyone?), but there are definite aromas that accompany autumn. When you go for a walk outside, there is a level of fulfillment that you get by purposely stepping on leaves just to hear that crunch. And finally, for unexplained reasons, it just seems to bring a sense of personal rejuvenation. In order to ensure you get the most out of the fall season this year, here is a checklist of “must-dos”:
1. Buy new fall candles (but lets face it, you’ve been burning them year round longing for this moment)
2. Bring out your flannels
3. And don’t forget those sweaters
4. Watch Hocus Pocus 1000x and recite it word for word
5. While you’re at it, throw in the Halloweentown series, too
6. Paint your nails those pretty fall colors (this includes the chic-y black)
7. Visit a pumpkin patch
8. Carve a pumpkin from that pumpkin patch
9. Visit a sunflower field and take 100 pictures just to prove you went (your social media friends will likely follow suit!)
10. Have/go to a bonfire
11. It’s fair/carnival season, so take a picture on the Ferris wheel
12. Visit and embrace a haunted house/hayride – don’t be scared!
13. Have a movie marathon featuring the original Halloween films with your friends – I’m talking Michael Myers here!
14. Eat tons of candy… I mean it is candy season...
15. Find the perfect Halloween costume (or make one)
16. Attend a Halloween party (and win best costume)
17. Have five plates of thanksgiving food – this is the only time of the year we can gorge without judgment
19. Hot cocoa and/or apple cider
20. Go on a hike (since it’s faBOOlous outside).
21. Football. Football. Football.
22. Check out websites like Groupon and RetailMeNot to help you get started and save money on your holiday shopping
23. Fuzzy socks
24. Be thankful that God has graced us with such a wonderful season – as nature is at her finest this time of year
And if this doesn't make you love fall even more... here is a man dancing with a pumpkin on his head! Happy Fall, y'all!
