5 Things A College Girl Needs This Fall

Fall Style Essentials

As the weather gets colder our closets get warmer. Cozy sweaters, cuddle weather, pumpkin spice lattes and football games...there is really nothing not to love about fall. It can be hard to stay your trendiest during the fall especially as a college student with a tight wallet. So what staple items should you add to the autumn shopping list that won’t break the bank? With these five fall style essentials you will be ready to face this autumn weather with comfort, style and warmth.

Versatile Boots

A pair of versatile boots is an absolute must for your fall closet. Boots can go with anything from leggings to a dress. Remember to stick to a neutral color like brown, black or grey since you can match them with almost any other color. Short and tall boots alike are both in this season, so take your pick! My suggestion is to get a pair of pleather boots, especially if you are living somewhere that it will be muddy, snowy or wet in the near future. Pleather endures all. Not to mention it won’t drain your bank account. You can find a pair of versatile boots almost anywhere these days.

Big Sweater

Who doesn't love a big cozy sweater? From lounging on the couch to a day out (with the right accessories of course) your big comfy sweater can take on almost any scene. I live in my favorite sweaters. When sweater shopping, I suggest you hit the mall and take a peek in the cheaper stores such as Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe instead of a department store. You can save hundreds, literally! Stay away from bold patterns and bright colors, fall is all about the neutrals. You can always throw in some jewelry to brighten up your outfit. Plus, a lighter color will look perfect with your new boots!

Vest

Puffer vests are the absolute perfect way to look trendy while staying warm during the fall. Matched up with a sweater, flannel, or even a sweatshirt on a lazy day, your puffer vest will be your go to piece with any outfit. This is the only fall essential that I suggest spending a little extra on. You definitely do not need to purchase a name brand, but with a little extra dough, you will get a much warmer vest and you will appreciate it when you are out and about later on in the season. Check out stores like TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack for great deals on vests for this season.

Staple Scarf

Scarves are a girl's best friend. Any type of scarf will do for a table this season but I suggest an infinity scarf. Infinity scarves have become a huge trend in the past couple of years. Not only are they warm, but also they are completely acceptable to wear indoors which is a plus. You can find them in just about any length. They pair nicely with almost anything and can add dimension to even the simplest of outfits. From fabric to knit, you can find infinity scarves at most retail stores this time of the year unless, of course, if a grandma-made scarf is an option which is always the best choice!

Statement Necklace

A statement necklace is perfect for the days is may still be a little too warm for a scarf. Chunky chains and bold rhinestones are in this season but remember that nothing over the top is necessary. A statement necklace will pair nicely with a top suitable for the fall. If you are not into rhinestones or big necklaces, pearls or a smaller chain with a noticeable charm are always good options as well. Check out your local consignment shops to hunt for a great deal...but if second hand shopping is not your forte, an inexpensive jewelry store like Claire’s, Icing or Francesca's will be sure to have exactly what you are looking for.

These five must have items will transform your closet and have you ready to take on this fall in style. Happy shopping!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
