Fall Is, In Fact, My Favorite Season

Summer is long gone, however not too many people miss their thighs sticking to leather seats. The chill is setting in, but in all honestly I don't know too many people who dislike fall. The heat has finally gotten to everyone, and we are tired of the slow boiling blood that had fueled our summer excitement. For some, fall is saying goodbye to a summer love, and for others it is finally a chance to dismiss the summer job. It's the perfect time of year to break out the crock pot to make some home-made soups. Cuddling sounds fun again and not just like a frustrating pile of sweat.

The Autumn season is loved by everyone with the start if football and the return of rock star jeans. The best part is that this season can even get a little spooky. The haunted houses open and the world gets creepier as Halloween approaches-- because you can't hear murderers stalking with the leaves always rustling. Just kidding about that last part, but everyone gets a thrill from the restless wind and mysterious orange moon.

I have always said that fall was my favorite season. The light of the sun grows dimmer and the chill and bite are returned to the air. When I described to a coworker that fall was my favorite season he replied that it was such a white girl thing to say. Although I am Caucasian and five foot one I was taken aback from his snide, tall person comment. Why reduce my love of fall to the color of my skin and the fact that I have boobs.

I was fairly coated in shock. I told him that fall is beautiful because it is never the same and is fleeting because its length varies year to year. I said that some places don't even have fall as a season and he rolled his eyes and repeated his white girl comments.

Almost every white girl has gone through this stereotype and it can be frustrating. Don't ever let this stop you from taking those autumn afternoon hikes through the shimmering red, yellow and orange leaves. Forget the smirks when you order a pumpkin spiced latte, because it's delicious. Reply with smilies to all the snide comments when you post pictures with your specially chosen pumpkin at the pumpkin patch.

The smiles on your jack-o-lantern will be the only ones that matter and if you're anything like me, those smiles will be incredibly well-crafted. Most of all, realize that nobody can resist the love that the changing colors and cozy atmosphere that Fall brings. So don't be afraid to slip on your Uggs, because Jack Frost will be biting your toes soon enough.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
