It's not hard to see that fall is near. The air has become a little cooler and the trees have a little more color in them. If you happen to browse Twitter during the summer months, you will most likely see a great deal of tweets about how people cannot wait for fall weather and all that comes along with it. I am not above saying that also believe that Fall is the best season. Out of all the great things that come with this season, here's eight reasons why fall should be your favorite, too.
1. The pigskin sport.
I will admit that when I watch a football game, chances are I have absolutely no idea what is going on. I have tried many times to watch a game and to figure out what was going on, but I have come to the conclusion that I just don't have a mind for sports and I am completely okay with that. Nonetheless, when it comes to game day at KU there's nothing I love more than dressing up and hanging out at a tailgate. Come time for the Superbowl and you can catch me pretending to pay attention while stuffing my face with the delicious food.
2. #NYFW.
This one goes beyond New York and includes fashion week that takes place in multiple cities across the world. I have not yet had the pleasure of attending a show but once all the beautiful highlights begin to grace my Instagram feed, I know my favorite season has officially begun. Personally, my goal is to one day sit among fashion royalty and participate in the whirlwind that is fashion week.
3. Sweater weather.
I think every girl can agree on this one. Fall has to be the easiest season to put together an outfit. Dark colors start to come into play and the plethora of leggings, riding boots, sweaters, and tights are absolutely glorious. Let's be honest, layering is a girl's best friend. Fall fashion is just so comfy, cozy, and irresistible. Don't forget that now is the perfect time to wear lipstick that is as dark as your soul.
4. All Hallows Eve.
"Halloween is the one night a year where you can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." Take some Instagram-worthy pumpkin patch pictures, eat double your weight in Halloween candy, and binge watch horror movies until you can't sleep for a week. Halloween is probably the second best holiday after Christmas, and the perfect time to let your freak flag fly.
5. Turkey day.
God bless America! Put on your stretchy pants so you can stuff your face and spend time with your family and friends. Some common Thanksgiving occurrences include, but are not limited to: playing football, pie, watching football, pie, being given the third degree, pie, watching a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, pie, passing out in front of the TV, and did I mention pie?
6. No Shave November.
I almost forgot about this fall favorite until my beautiful sister, Jenny, reminded me of it. No Shave November is perfect for males and females alike. Girls can throw on a pair of leggings and not feel self conscious about skipping shave day for weeks in a row. We also have the added bonus of witnessing guys attempt to grow facial hair.
7. Pumpkin spice lattes.
Starbucks lovers rejoice, it's now the time to enjoy the delicious fall flavors. Double points if you post a picture of your double shot venti skim pumpkin spice latte with extra whip.
8. Changing colors.
Hands down one of the greatest parts of fall is watching the colors on the trees turn from green to oranges, yellows, and reds. I always rediscover my love for Lawrence when I walk on campus during a perfect fall afternoon. The crunch of leaves beneath my shoes mixed with the crisp air provide the perfect atmosphere.
Summer never seems long enough, but once fall rolls around it's pretty hard to beat.
