Fall Finds In Fashion

Once September 21 fell upon us, fall had officially come back into our lives. To most of us sorority girls, this means pumpkin-spiced everything. Fall means your uniform of chunky sweaters with leggings can now come into play. Autumn conveys thoughts of bonfires, s’mores and hayrides. Fall brings  excitement for pumpkin carving and salted caramel mochas. Once fall hit, finding the perfect fall pieces to add to my wardrobe immediately came to mind. As much as I would love to binge-shop this fall, there are only six items on my autumn wish list.

Camo Jeans

Even Regina George’s biggest fan wears army pants, but let’s cut the flip-flop this fall. These Joe’s jeans have been catching my eye for quite a while and for many reasons. Dark-washed and black jeans will always be a staple for fall, but army-green jeans are unexpected yet strangely perfect. I have been in search of camo jeans since May and finally they have made their appearance just in time. Rock these jeans with your relaxed tees or with a chunky sweater. Regardless of what you pair with them, these gems are guaranteed to get some nods.

Jean Jacket

Look no further than J. Crew factory for this hidden treasure. I can’t think of a more perfect article of clothing to truly transform your outfits and take your summer pieces into this chillier season. I can’t stress enough how far this jean jacket can take your wardrobe. I’ve said it time and time again, but throwing a jacket over any outfit can pull your look together. I will be donning my jean jacket throughout the fall semester with sundresses and booties for a cool yet chic vibe.

Vampy Lipstick

A dark lipstick picks you up and puts you smack-dab in the middle of autumn. Some of you may be fearful of trying out this darker shade, but I promise you will not regret this purchase. I have been counting down the days until I could slick on my all-time favorite lipstick, Mac’s Rebel. If you do muster up the courage to pick a vampy shade, make sure to keep the rest of your beauty look relatively natural.

Gold-plated Booties

I don’t know about you, but these booties gave me hearts for eyes. Booties should be your staple shoe this fall because they look perfect with virtually everything. Booties with shift dresses or with jeans and oversized tops scream ideal street style. Gold-plated booties, in particular, add a sense of luxe to your look and separate you from the most basic of witches (get it? because Halloween?).

Navy Nail Polish

What screams “fall” more than dark nail polish? Instead of going with the expected black or maroon, choose navy this season. Navy is sleek and on point for a season where dark colors are plastered all over your wardrobe.

Leopard Clutch

Jenna Lyons, the president and creative director of J. Crew, said it better than anyone when she deemed leopard as a neutral. This clutch could be picked up and added to literally anything you plan on wearing this fine season. Whether it be a striped tee and skinny jeans or your semi-formal dress, this clutch will hands-down be the perfect addition. This Loeffler Randall clutch is ALWAYS the right answer, except for maybe your calculus problems.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
