Fall Festivals. Apple picking. Horror movies. Pumpkin chucking. Thanksgiving. Football. Food. Crisp air. And of course, Tailgates... What more can you ask for? Fall is the best time of year.
Growing up I always looked forward to fall. Its not only the time of year where you can bare the weather, but its also the season where you can dress up as your favorite hero. It's the season where you can bundle up in blankets to watch to rival football teams go head to head. Where your whole dysfunctional family tries to sit down for one meal. Fall is a time where families and communities come together to enjoy each other's company.
I still remember eagerly awaiting shows like Halloweentown, Under Wraps, or the Phantom of the Duplex. It was shows like these that made the whole month of October worth the one night every kid could not wait for, Halloween. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday because it gave me to imagine of all the things that could have been lurking in the dark. I still remember seeing the horror movie, "The Ring", for the first time. Man, did that movie keep me up for months.
Another reason why I love fall is the food. Yes, America has a pumpkin spice addiction. However, there is nothing better than a homemade pumpkin pie. I am not talking about the store-bought pie, I am talking about the real deal. I'm talking about the pie that you go back for a third piece. Oh and don't get me started with the leftover turkey sandwiches you have a week straight after Thanksgiving. Fall is a time where you get start developing that mom/dad bod due to all the food you eat.
This season is the best because there is always an excuse for you to get around friends and family. Whether its football tailgates, Halloween parties, or just simply Thanksgiving dinner, you are surrounded by them. Fall will always be my favorite season because of this reason. That is why I am thrilled that October is here so I can begin to enjoy seeing my friends and my family as the holidays start to roll in. Also, fall break is always great to get away from the stress of college.
