Fall Fest: Alpha Gamma Rho

Over the years, the Beta Zeta chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho hasĀ been involved in many events in order to raise money and awareness for charitable organizations, scholarships, memorials, and community outreach. This year, we are creating a new fall event held at our chapter house called Fall Fest. Fall Fest is designed to support multiple causes chosen by our chapter each year and has the added ability to benefit attendee’s charitable choices as well.Ā We have decided as a chapter to devote this year’s profits to support the CAFLS College and a student in the Agriculture, Forestry & Life Sciences.

Last year we conducted an event that involved carving the best pumpkin for Halloween. This year we will be doing the same; however, it will be a live event where contestants only have a limited amount of time to carve their masterpiece on site.Ā

There will be two divisions; the first will be a Clemson organization division. Sororities, Fraternities, and Clubs are encouraged to compete side by side for carving glory. The winner of the competition will receive double their entry fee back for the purpose of supporting your own organizational philanthropy or cause. The second division will be a self-made team. Individual team prizes may include gift cards or event t-shirts. Grab a friend and come on out.Ā

Not a carver?
There will be a second event that will consist of a sack race where members of an organization or team may compete to win a prize. The third event consists of a tug of war. Separate brackets will be constructed for ladies and for gentlemen in both of these events. Ā Ā

Like to bake?
We will also be having a pumpkin pie-baking contest. Get out your oven mitt and bring us your best pie. Fall Fest will take place the evening before Halloween on THURSDAY, October 30th, 2014 between 5:30Ā p.m. and 8Ā p.m. Ā Ā

Please feel free to direct any questions to Tyler Long, Alpha Gamma Rho’s Philanthropy Chair. He can be reached at atl@g.clemson.edu Ā  Ā Ā

Team Registration
There will be ONE official group representing each organization. Philanthropy chairs are instructed to help create this team. If you belong to an organization but are not part of the official team, you can create your own individual team when you sign up. Please choose your team name and fill it in on the sign up sheet. The signup sheet can be found online here: Ā  Ā Ā

Organization supported teams are encouraged to let us know specifically where they would like to donate in advance. You can do this by filling in the appropriate information on the sign up sheet. Ā Ā

Please remember that there is a per-team cost for each event. All parties that sign up will be required to pay their respective entry fee before participation in the event. Ā Ā

Individual Team Entry Fees
(You may pick any event or multiple events)
Pumpkin Carving - $25
Pie Baking - $5 (Each pie entered for your team x $5 = total donation)
Sack Race & Tug of War - $15 for both, $10 for one Ā Ā

Organization Entry Fee
A flat rate of $100 dollars per organization is requested for each officially sponsored team. This donation includes entry into all events and gives priority to extra materials. Ā Ā

If your team does not wish to participate in one of the events, please be sure to UNCHECK the option when you sign up online. Whatever is checked, you will be expected to participate in. Ā Ā

All checks can be made out to: Alpha Gamma Rho – Beta Zeta
Please hand-deliver all checks or cash to the Alpha Gamma Rho chapter house or a member of the Fraternity. Take note of the brother’s name that you give your check or cash to. Ā  We appreciate any other donations supporting the College of Agriculture. Donation receipts are available upon request.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
