Fair weather friend: You may think they're your best friend, but in reality, they're just looking for the next best thing. We all have had them, and while they're fun on Fridays, they never seem to be around on Mondays. It may take a few times for you to fall down, but soon you will find that your true friends are the ones at your door step at two in the morning, double-fisting Ben and Jerry's and a roll of cookie dough after you just had a fight with your significant other. So here are the signs of a fair weather friend. Drop the fake ones and take recognition of who in your life really matters.

They only come around when you invite them to something that is worth their time or builds their social status.

You will definitely get this question from them: "What time? And who all's going to be there?"

They're ALWAYS neutral when it comes to drama.

Even if your boyfriend cheated on you 10 times, they won't pick a side. They like the status quo and anything that signals a change to their happy-go-lucky life, freaks them out.

They will pick a good time over your hard time any day.

Oh, you would rather stay in and watch Netflix with your friend because you've had the hardest week of your life? Well, apparently there's a frat party that was much more important than you tonight.

They don't have your back.

They want to be everyone's friend, but honestly, that is not possible. They also lack courage and cringe at the thought of someone not liking them.

They always seem to gift you with their presence when you have something that they want.

You've probably heard the questions along the lines of: "Your brother works at the movies and can get us a discount, right? Wanna go see 'Inside Out'?"

Their advice is always very general.

They never take the time to really ponder what would be the best for YOU. They will always just say what will benefit them. For instance:

Janis: But guys, Ryan is going to be at the party tonight.

Lisa: Girl, you just have to look really good tonight and make him regret that he ever broke up with you.

You often times avoid telling these people your secrets.

They seem to only be interested in your problems so that they can have a new hot topic to talk about with the next person that they hang out with.

I hope that if you identify a majority of these traits in some of your friends you drop them because they're not worth your effort or the care that you're willing to give. Furthermore, if you find some of these traits in yourself, I hope that you realize that finding a few friends that will understand and accept your flaws are much more valuable than a lot of friends that have only seen your smile.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
