Everyone’s been there.
The day of your road test to get your driver’s license. You know that you will only have one of two outcomes: either you pass or you fail. You go into it and you're nervous. It’s okay to fail your road test, though, even if it seems like it’s the end of the world. Maybe you make it out of the parking lot, and maybe you don’t. If you didn’t make it out of the parking lot, don’t sweat it. I know that it’s hard not to cry about it. In fact, go ahead and cry about it even when everyone else tells you to stop.
When you take your road test, do not go into thinking, “I have this.” If you go in cocky, you will fail. Trust me, I’ve been there. What you should do is go in knowing your strengths and weaknesses. If you know that parallel parking is the hardest thing for you, remember that. Remember to think about your strengths too, maybe it’s pulling into a parking spot or maybe it’s backing into a parking spot, but remember to think about it so you are aware when you are going into the test.
Don’t let whoever takes you to your road test make you feel bad that you failed it. Don’t let them tell you to stop crying. Whatever you do, tell them no if they try and make you do the thing that made you fail in the first place. It will not help you fix it at all. All it will do is make you hate doing that one thing even more.
What you should do is get back out there and start practicing again after you have calmed yourself down enough that you feel like you can practice again. You should practice anything that you got points for when you were doing your test.
If you are having an especially hard time with your road test or the parking test when you know that you can do it when a tester is not watching, you are not alone. I am having an especially hard time with my fail on the parking section because I know that I can do it when I do not have a tester watching me park.
Practice harder so that you can do it every time with or without someone watching you to see if you can do it. You and your parents both know that you can do it. Anyone who has worked with you knows you can do it. Don’t beat yourself up over it, even if that is all that you want to do. Trust me, it’s not worth it. You can always try again. There is nothing wrong with having to take your road test again. Take that sucker as many times as you need to so you can get a license.
I believe in you just like my parents believed in me. Good luck and try again!
