Facebook, the social network that counts almost 1.59 users, turns 12. Way back in 2004, Mark Zuckerberg launched his social media site at Harvard with his university classmates Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The social network was originally aimed for the students attending Harvard, but it quickly expanded throughout the world until it became the most visited website.
Facebook has now become the largest social media company that constantly influences our life and fosters connections and relationships with a great online community of users. Since 2004, billions of people are connected on Facebook every day through their desktop, smartphone or tablet.
The company often launches new and creative ideas to cheer the site and remind people about the importance of sharing moments with our friends and family. Much like the end-of-year personalized videos that show a user’s most meaningful moments from the past year, the company has now released Friends Day videos that display a list of the best pictures and moments shared with friends.
The videos create a sort of virtual album of photos and moments spent together with friends, taken from the profile of each user. This short movie is a way to celebrate and share wonderful stories of the power of friendship.
Facebook's 12th birthday celebration has brought me to look back in time and remember how the website looked when it was still very new and known by only a few users. It is amazing to think how Facebook has changed and evolved over the past twelve years in terms of page layout, colors and style. Do you remember how Facebook looked in 2004?
On it's 12 birthday, Facebook now looks like this:
Pretty impressive, right?
