I don't think anyone saw this day coming, unless you're a time-traveler.

Face Coverings Are 2020's New Fashion Accesory

In such a short amount of time face coverings became something that was optional to something that is mandatory here in Leon county. Since March, we have been learning new things about COVID-19, and out of everything we have learned it is evident that wearing a proper face covering will decrease the transmission of the virus. As the weeks go by people have gotten really creative in the way that they are making their face masks. People with no DIY skills whatsoever have come up with really pretty designs for masks just for the reason that we need them. If you would have told me five or even ten years ago that the majority of 2020 would be spent at home and wearing a mask when we go out, I would have told you that you're crazy, it's not the end of the world.

It is evident that people have their own opinions on whether they think wearing masks is a waste of time or others that believe that masks help the weaker populations feel safe. Regardless of the reasoning why not make the best of it while it's mandatory? There are so many different designs of fabric at craft stores that you could literally have a mask for every day of the week. While you could just use the disposable masks, using cloth masks will help lessen waste in the environment, and will also last you longer since you can wash and refuse it.

It has become a new normal to go out to stores or restaurants and see people with their masks on. It is actually kind of fun to see everyone's different masks and different styles. I'm sure someone somewhere has made a blog named "What Your Mask Says About You". In the meantime, stay safe, make smart choices, and rock that mask wherever you go, after all, it's also a fashion statement.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
