Can we just take a moment to appreciate this picture?

The 22 Expressions Of The Fanzone

Honestly, I've wanted to write this article for a really long time but I never had the time to do it.

Ok so there's this picture from the basketball season. It's of a dunk Wes Washpun made during the UNI v. UNC game.

It's a cool picture, yeah, and Roland Ferrie, the photographer who took it, is an amazing photographer, but can we talk about everyone IN the picture? Can we talk about the EXPRESSIONS that are happening in this? Because this is a work of comedic beauty.

Some of you may see yourselves or your friends.

And the expression "titles" are meant in jest.

Enjoy.

1. The "NO WAY BRO I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING HOLD MY BEVERAGE."

2. The "I just got back from safari just in time for the game go cats!"

Hey may have even see TC's family while on safari, who knows?

3. The "Did I leave the oven on?"

Also compatible with "where'd I put my keys," "where's my phone," "there's a test I didn't study for in five minutes."

4. The "Punch in the face illusion"

Very well done, I applaud my friends for being lined up so well. Five of five panther paws.

5. The "Blank stare/Wait, what is happening are we going to make it? *Slightly scared* Is it going to be OK?"

Alternatively, the "They just killed the dog in the movie, but I'm not going to cry. I'm not going to cry. I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING."

6. The "Damn, I should've worn my school's colors."

PURPLE and GOLD fam. PURPLE. AND. GOLD.

7. The "Ooooooooohhhh get some ice 'cuz you just got burned!"

8. The "I knew I shouldn't have gotten Chipolte."

It seemed like a good decision at the time.

9. The "Silent OH"

When you mean to make an "ooooohhhhhh" sound, but no sound comes out because you're too surprised.

10. The "We are not entertained."

Washpun is practically dunking before you, crying out, "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED???"

And apparently you are not.

11. The "Keep it together bro. I DON'T THINK I CAN BRO."

Clearly one is calmer about this situation than the other.

12. The "YASSS my prayers have been answered."

This is also an accurate depiction of when grades come out and you don't fail.

13. The "Yessssss. This moment is so beautiful, I think I'm going to cry."

Same.

14. The "OH BABY I LOVE THIS TEAM!"

Shoutout to Gary Rima, the voice of Panther Nation.

15. The "Living up to the t-shirt"

Stunned fanatic indeed.

16. The "Surprised yet suave."

Keeping it together while probably not keeping it together.

17. The "I'm watching."

Do the creep ah ah ah.

18. The "Mildly impressed."

Basketball. Popcorn. Festive sweater. What more could one want?

19. The "Mom, I'm going to have to call you back."

20. The "Lifting the bar."

I, too, lift invisible weights when I get excited.

21. The "Speculator."

Is it really going to go in?

I think it is.

22. The "Expression of hope at it's purest form."

So. Much. Hope.

As you can see, there's a lot going on in that one picture, and some of those expressions are accurate to other aspects of life other than just a display of athleticism.

Happily, the Panthers won the game against UNC, with a score of 71 - 67.

Victory for UNI.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
