My Experience at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
NBC

Finally, it happened. We got tickets for the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Something we have been trying to do for what felt like forever. On February 16, 2017, my mom, sisters, and I saw The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The process of getting tickets is not easy. Luckily, we were successful.

The ticket is very specific. Line up at 3:15, no earlier. Check-in stops at 3:45, no later. Earlier that day I had received a sign from the heavens that going to this show was meant to be. My professor cancelled class, so we were able to go We got there early because the show overbooks-meaning not everyone is guaranteed a seat, which was a risk we were not willing to take. The line was long, but there was music playing, and if you know me you know I was singing and dancing the whole time. Additionally, pictures of the Tonight Show were everywhere, which really got me pumped. We checked in, got our ticket and wristband, and sat in a lounge for what should have only been an hour. I am not sure what happened, but we were sitting there for much longer.

Nonetheless, there was still music and pictures from the show everywhere, and hey, we were about to see Jimmy Fallon, how could we complain? Absolutely no personal pictures were allowed or else you got the boot. NBC workers walked around the lounge with ipads, taking pictures of people to put on the website- so of course we took a bunch! Oh what’s that, you want to see one? Fine if you insist…

They lined our group up to go in and things got very real. I had a million thoughts running through my head. It was finally happening. Jessica Biel was a guest, but would Justin Timberlake come out?? Would there be a chance I could meet Jimmy? Would someone from NBC discover my existence and offer me a job (Hi NBC I would love to work for you! Give me a call sometime!) We got into an elevator that pretty much lets us out right into studio 6B. It was much smaller than I had imagined. It was also freezing inside.

The show went by so quickly. Jessica Biel came out first. Justin Timberlake was not there but they talked about him (#friendshipgoals). Other guests were Ricky Martin, Rag-n-Bone-Man, Robert Irwin (He brought sloths to the show!!), and the drummer from Red Hot Chilli Peppers performed with the legendary Roots. Higgins was standing to the side and Jimmy Fallon was just killing it. He talked to the crowd during breaks answering questions and just being really cool. The show was hilarious. When it is was over Jimmy ran into the crowd to say hi to everyone. When he came to our side my sister high-fived him, I asked him for a hug and he said yes. I HUGGED JIMMY FALLON!! Then my sister asked for a group hug so the three of us hugged Jimmy Fallon.

Going to see The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was worth all the stress of getting tickets, waiting in lines and whatever else we did to be there. It was a great experience and I really hope I can go again.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
