Living in with a host family while abroad is one of the most culturally enriching ways to spend your time in another country. After living in my Spanish homestay for two and a half months (with one and a half to go), I thought it only appropriate to share a few quintessential host-student experiences with the world. Enjoy!
1. When you're running late for a meal...
2. When you come home from a night out and your key to the house *mysteriously* stops working...
3. When you become (overly) friendly with the neighbors...
4. When your host mom asks you if you want more bread with dinner...
5. When you sleep in until the afternoon on the weekend and your host family doesn't make it weird when you come down to lunch in your PJs...
6. When theres a slight shift in the weather and your host mom doesn't let you leave the house until you layer up...
7. When you and your other friends abroad fight over whose host mom makes the best food...
8. When you start watching and actually enjoying the same foreign TV shows as your host mom or siblings...
9. When your host siblings feel like your actual siblings...
10. When you come home from a weekend trip to clean laundry and fresh linens on the bed...
11. When you realize you have no idea what you'd do without your host family...
