Casey Neistat is one of YouTube's many personalities. But unlike most YouTubers, who sit in their houses and advertise for brands or do challenge videos, Casey is a daily vlogger -- someone who films their everyday life and posts the 10 minute video online. As a creator -- of YouTube videos, of movies, of apps -- his New York City life is especially interesting. His first year of daily vlogging has come to a close and "season two" is starting up. Here's what to expect.
1. Francine and Owen.
Casey's incredible children are always a highlight. Even though Owen's going to college in the fall, I'm sure we'll still be seeing a lot of him. And if not, there's always this movie that Casey made about Owen. And Francine's going to start walking so soon! It's so cool to have the opportunity to watch these kids grow up.
2. Candice.
Candice Pool (yes, her name is spelled with an i) is Casey's gorgeous, innovative wife. She has her own highly successful jewelry company, Finn Jewelry. We get to see her in basically every vlog, whether it be in person or via FaceTime (in person is always better). Casey's made a few movies about her, but my personal favorite is A Love Story 8 Years in the Making. With that song in the background?! I cry every. Single. Time.
3. Time lapses.
It's not a Casey vlog if it doesn't start with a time lapse. It's just not.
4. Unusual forms of transportation.
You know those moments when you're running late to the airport and you need to take a helicopter to make it on time? Casey does (and vlogs about it). I'm somehow still surprised to see Casey on a helicopter on the way to the airport even though it's happened a number of times. And, of course, Casey's famous Boosted board (motorized skateboard) that he uses on a daily basis. He first got it (and vlogged about it) in July of 2015, and it's been with him ever since. And he has two more now. Who needs the subway when you're Casey Neistat?
5. Drones.
For season two, drones mean incredible shots from the air, like in this recent vlog from South Africa. At the end of the first year of vlogs, Casey introduced these new cameras to the vlogs, and there were some issues. Like the time there was no connection between the drone and his phone. Waiting for the next day's vlog to see what would happen was probably the most stressful 24 hours of my life. Not to be dramatic.
6. Celebrities.
Sometimes celebrities will show up in the vlogs -- no big deal. I'll look up from tying my shoe and Karlie Kloss will be holding Francine. At this point, it's not even worth freaking out over because it happens so often. Also, Casey's been to a bunch of awards shows (including the Oscars), so there are tons of celebrities to look out for all the time. I'm sure season two will bring a lot more of this.
7. First class.
It used to be American Airlines first class every time he travelled. But after this recent break up with American (ugh), Casey's looking for another airline to fly with. Send him suggestions.
8. Broken audio.
How come the audio on his camera breaks so often? Everybody wants to hear Candice make jokes. At least we get some text on the screen and that's always funny. But not as funny as Candice's jokes. Come on, Canon.
9. Beme.
Casey released an app in July of last year that's revolutionizing the world of social media. He's made an eyes-free app that's a virtual representation of our reality -- instead of being a "highly sculpted, calculated calibrated version of who we are," which is what social media currently is. Beme is sure to grow and develop in season two.
10. Hard work and creativity.
I don't know anyone other than Casey (not that I know Casey, I just wish I knew Casey, and kind of feel like I do) who loves Mondays, runs a lot of miles in very few minutes most mornings, creates apps and entertains millions of people with constant activity. The crazy thing is, it's not like he's forcing himself to get out there and do something interesting, he's just living his life. And his life is an amazing, hectic adventure that we get to join him on.
Stay tuned for season two and don't forget to subscribe!
