Rejoice, "Full House" fans from all generations: your prayers have been answered! In April, rumors circulated that a "Full House" spin-off was in the works, and just weeks later, Netflix confirmed the series' conception. But a few things have changed since Danny Tanner's patriarchy.
The show, set to premiere in 2016, will focus on the adult DJ Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure), who is newly widowed with three children. She enlists the help of her younger sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber) to guide her through the new turns her life has taken. The storyline mirrors the plot of its predecessor, when her father Danny Tanner asked his brother-in-law and best friend to help raise his three daughters after their mother passed.
Additional cast members have also confirmed their role reprisals such as Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier), Uncle Jesse (John Stamos), Aunt Becky (Lori Laughlin), and their twins Alex and Nicky (Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit). Some have main cast roles, others guest appearances, and even directing roles. Both Stamos and Coulier have confirmed they will be behind the camera in some capacities. Whether or not Michelle Tanner (Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen) will make any appearances is still up in the air, according to Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarantos.
"Tonally, it will feel the same as the original "Full House," which is heartfelt and funny and family friendly, but it's current," Bure told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's today's time."
Originally, producers wanted DJ to be pregnant with her third child, but the baby has been born and more time has passed since her husband's death, Bure elaborated, somewhat lessening the effect of the series' tragic beginning.
The actors have been giving fans sneak peeks of production on Instagram and Twitter. Laughlin recently posted a snap of herself and John Stamos, causing every Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky fan's heart to flutter.
