I Usually Don’t Rush My Years, But 2018 Is Different — I’m Ready To See What 2019 Will Bring

2018. Another year zipped right past you and you didn't even see it flying. Some people are glad it's over and can't wait for a fresh start. Others believe the time is passing by too fast, and wish there was a way to make it stop or slow down.

Personally, I am usually one of those people who doesn't rush their years, but this year is different.

The second the clocked struck 12 midnight bringing us into 2018, I knew from that moment it was going to be a rollercoaster. The hardships encountered this year have been so extreme, I don't think its possible to encounter anything more extreme.

Most people truly want 2018 to be over as soon as possible. Whether it's the loss of a friendship, a relationship, a job, a loved one, etc., everyone needs a new beginning. It is now overdue. Emotions were higher than normal this year, but maybe that is just to set us up for the good of 2019.

2019. What will this year bring us?

The world may never know, but that's the excitement. We have 365 days to find out. Even though we still have a few weeks of 2018 left, I feel like surprises and shockers are over with. A fresh start means an endless amount of unexpected events and excitement.

For me, 2019 screams travel. Whether it's going to graduations, studying abroad or maybe even spontaneous getaways with my friends, there's going to be a lot of big events. I will be turning 20. And yes, it's not as big as 21, but I will be out of my teens so that is kind of a milestone.

Also, I am fortunate enough to buy floor seats at my favorite artist, be a part of Greek Sing at my university and next school year I will be on my sorority's executive board.

What I am trying to say is that if you are like me and want 2018 to be over, think about all the big or small events that await in 2019. It will get you a lot more thrilled for 2019, but don't forget to enjoy the last weeks of 2018 because you can never get time back!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
