Today I heard a song called “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” by David Lee Murphy and Kenny Chesney and it was the perfect reminder and couldn’t have come on at a better time. Sometimes I tend to overthink the little things, and I’m pretty confident in thinking that I’m not alone when it comes down to it. We all have our own “problems” that we don’t necessarily talk about to anyone, or really worry about until a song comes on or a certain situation arises.

But this song, constantly reminds us that in the end “everything is gonna be alright”. “Don’t go hittin’ that panic button.” That’s what I really needed to hear most. Just because one thing doesn’t go right or there’s a negative thought nagging you, don’t just automatically assume everything is going to go wrong and give up on yourself.

Honestly, we all know what assuming does, and if you don’t just ask a friend. While I’m kind of joking when I say that, don’t let one negative thought bring you so low that you give up on a lifelong dream or take a chance. I’m really writing this letter to myself as a reminder to keep pushing forward because it’s all gonna be alright when it’s all said and done with.

My New Year's resolution is not to work out every day, lose ten pounds, or any of the normal resolutions. I am going to try and trust the process and not doubt myself or what the Lord is doing in my life.

I think that’s the most important thing for me to start being better at: trusting the Lord’s timing and His plan.

I understand that while He already has a plan laid out for me, I must pursue Him and learn that even when I want to doubt myself or my abilities or even the situation at hand, I need to press forward and do what’s best for me and my situation.

We all tend to get caught up in what is popular or what we think we can or can’t do. I’ve heard over and over again that whether you think you can or you can’t that you’re right. This means that you determine your own destiny, because either you confidently push forward even if it’s a little out of your comfort zone, or you just never try because you think that you can’t.

I’m learning to push forward even when something seems too big for me because chances are it’s going to better me for the next challenge I face. When life starts to seem like a constant uphill battle, don’t worry because you’ll eventually hit flat ground. I’m also going to try and look for a positive situation in every circumstance.

I feel like in doing so I will have a better mindset when dealing with anything life throws my way. So, with all of this being said, this year, I hope to travel new places, try new things, and meet new people even when it seems like it’s way out of my league. No matter what is going on, an argument with a friend, family problems, a new challenge, or just life hitting you pretty hard in general, just remember “everything’s gonna be alright”. Let’s do this, 2018.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
