Thank You, I'm Sorry, And Everything Else My Person Needs To Hear

Friends come and go. Even when you think you find a best friend for life, they end up walking out of your life forever and never looking back. Looking back at my life I have noticed this happening to me more than a handful of times. However one person has stayed with me through thick and thin. One person has been with me for over a decade. One person has shown me what true friendship looks like. This one person is my person.

My best friend. My non-blood sister. You have been with me through thick and thin. When nobody else was there for me, you were. Through everything I went through, you were always the first one I went to. If I ever receive crazy news about anything you are always the first person I text. No matter the situation you are always my shoulder to cry on. You let me rant for an hour about that one stupid boy or about school work. You tell me the cold hard truth about life and somehow manage to give me the best advice in the world. You have been there for me from the beginning, even through our awkward stages of life. You took hideous photos with me and created stupid videos to songs when nobody else would. We have the same taste in music which has been the biggest blessing tbh, but everyone else hates us when we belt One Direction in the car or when we scream Hannah Montana while walking to class. Even though we went to different high schools you stayed by my side. I even think going different ways made our friendship grow stronger. We have too many inside jokes and I think if anyone were to read our text messages they would think we are actually insane. There are two words I rarely tell you. Two words that definitely aren't enough. Two words: Thank You.

Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for making everyday fun and for making me laugh whenever we are together. Thank you for giving me new friends, and for opening me up to many different things I never would have seen without you. Thank you for giving me my love of country music, and chocolate. I'm glad I have someone in my life who loves ketchup just as much as me. Thank you for meeting Hunter Hayes with me *cries*. Thank you for making spontaneous decisions with me (and my mom that one time hehe). Thank you for going on vacations with me and my family. Thank you for basically being adopted into my family. You are easily my parents' favorite friend and always will be. I cannot wait to have you in my life forever.

Two more words you definitely need to hear: I'm sorry. I'm sorry for probably annoying you with how often I ask you for help. I'm sorry for never taking your advice and basically doing the complete opposite of what you tell me to do every single time. I'm sorry for not coming to more of your sports games. I'm sorry for not giving you as much praise as you deserve, seriously you are the bomb. I'm mostly sorry for you having to put up with me on the daily and for the rest of your life! Even if you wanna get rid of me, you're can't, you're stuck with me, sorry!

Thank you for always being there. For being my sister. For being my ketchup, bacon, sushi, T Swift loving, and country-wanna-be best friend. Thank you for being my person.

much love,

Your person

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
