11 Things Everyone Says On Spring Break

It's a marathon, not a sprint so make sure you pace yourself.

Spring break is upon us and everyone is getting excited! Spring break is the time of year where you gather all your friends, pack your suitcases, and head off to your destination. Here are a few things that people typically end up saying on their trip.

1. "Are we there yet?"

If you are traveling to your destination by car then I'm guessing you have said this a time or two.

2. "I'm not ready to be seen in a bikini."

Spring break comes around the corner fast and there is never enough time to get that desired beach body that everyone wants, but liquid courage can help with that.

3. "Bringing a fanny pack was the best decision I have made."

You can only carry so much in your two hands and having an easy-access bag is always handy. Bringing a fanny pack is a good decision because it can carry all the necessities like hair ties, chapstick, gum, cash, your ID, and sunscreen.

4. "Wow, did everyone go swimsuit shopping at Target this year?"

Everyone knows that target is the place to go for inexpensive, trendy swimsuits but when you see 5 girls walk by you in the same swimsuit you are still in shock.

5. "I actually need to put sunscreen on today."

Nobody enjoys sunburns, they are uncomfortable and itchy. One of the only ways to prevent a sunburn is applying sunscreen. Having a sunburn won't stop you from going out but you will have a better time if you aren't drenched in aloe vera.

6. "It's a marathon, not a sprint."

Saying it's a marathon, not a sprint versus actually following the saying is two completely different things. Actions speak louder than words so make sure you pace yourself or else you will hate yourself in the morning (or even at 2 PM).

7. "I can't wait to take a nap."

When 3 PM or 4 PM rolls around it's time to head back to the hotel to take a quick nap. A nap is essential because without one you won't be able to have as much fun at night.

8. "Time to rally."

Rallying is extremely important to successfully do spring break. At the time rallying might seem like an impossible task but once you get out of bed from your nap you are golden. Chug some Pedialyte, get dressed, eat dinner, walk out the door, and never look back.

9. "Where did my sunglasses go?"

Losing a pair of sunglasses is devastating and we all have the potential to do so. Bring an inexpensive pair with you on vacation so when they go MIA, it's not the end of the world.

10. "Sorry, Mom and Dad."

Spring break has the potential to influence bad decisions. Would Mom and Dad be proud of what I'm up to? Probably not.

11. "I'm ready to go home."

Spring break is all fun and games but it has to come to an end and it's probably time to go home anyway. The memories will last forever but the bruises are temporary.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
